Red Barn - dog food in a tube

Has anyone else ever tried this stuff?
I bought some a week or so ago at our local TSC (Tractor Supply Co). It seems totally something you would see there, as it's name suggests, but then I look and see it is from a company in Long Beach, CA!

As Simon has been sick and sicker, it is the ONLY thing he will eat. We did dog food, soaked dog food, soaked food with gravy and canned foods, straight canned foods (lots of kinds) and even some of Norah's baby formula.....and he totally refused all, and was wasting away before my eyes.

I remembered this tube I bought, and he eats it!
I had the Chicken and Liver formula. It is 2 pounds, 3 oz and costs $5, and is the equivalent of 6-14 oz cans of food. You slice it with a sharp knife - and it looks a lot like a salami. All the other dogs line up for bits too. I am hand feeding Simon most of his food, so he gets a bigger hunk, they each all get nibbles and we go around the gang getting a bite each. I guess it works!

It's made in USA, ingredients seem decent, so I may keep getting it occasionally. Would certainly make real high value training treats!
And as long as Simon is eating it, it's good by me.

It must feel great to find something he will eat. David wanted to buy ground beef in a tube once, because he thought it looked neat. Funny how packaging makes such a difference!
Lots of dog trainers here recommend that and the Nature's Variety version as training treats because it has the nutrition of good dog food and yet the doggies go wild for it. You can slice and dice it into tiny sized treats that generally don't crumble. Great stuff!
Kim - we actually buy the big tubes of ground beef...and Todd really likes it. He is always the one who slices it into 1 pound chunks and bags it for the freezer. We use the reusable vacuum bags, works slick!

Val - good to know! See, I knew it would be good for training treats - mine are all crazy for it!...but no original idea for me though
I need to get some for Pearl! She is getting so thin and hardly eats unless we put 'good stuff' in and mix it. Thanks Dawn! I can't wait to try some....
Nelson and Sassy love it. We cut it up in cubes and freeze for special treats.

I've seen it sold at Petco, Petsmart and Pet Supplies Plus and even at dog shows. :-)
We use the Natural Balance tube of food for training treats!
Also to entice the appetite canned rabbit works awesome!
Royal Canin makes it and Jaci also sent some that was 100%
rabbit but, I can't remmeber who made that!
They LOVED it though!

Canned rabbit was one that I tried - one I use often as a special treat and normally they all LOVE it. Sadly. not this time for Simon :(
