New title - Chewie got his CD

Formal obedience (competitive) has not been Chewie's "thing" - he really doesn't care for it. My fault I guess, as we do so much that really IS fun, this just bores him and he wants nothing to do with it. He knows all the skills inside out...he has been just putting on the MULE mode to protest this!

It has been our bane...he rarely fails at anything. But before this weekend, in obedience we had 3 NQ's, and a barely qualifying 171 (need at least 170 out of 200 points) in 4 tries. :(
We need 3 qualifying scores (legs) to earn the CD (companion dog) title, I thought we would be sitting with 1 forever.

So, we have been working hard - or I should say, working "fun" !
I have been playing obedience, making it so entertaining and great. The last time we tried competition for obedience was last summer - in June, and got the dismal 171.

Well, I got brave and sent in our entries for the trial this weekend...and called in well wish favors from every one!
I wasn't feeling too good going into it, as this past week in practice he still was being the same muley boy.

BUT -
He put on his fun game face and Saturday got a 191 and Sunday a 186.5!!!! :cheer: :high5: :cheer: :high5:

For the points lost on the 186.5, they all were from his onlead heeling and figure 8 (on lead too). He was acting pokey and heeling like I was torturing him... As soon as I took his lead off for the rest, he came to life and seemed to be saying "well, about time, now we can have fun!"

I was so incredibly proud of him!!!

Here is a picture of us Sunday with our judge and his New Title ribbon:

I do feel bad I was dressed so casual...Saturday I had on tan pants and a nice blouse. Sunday I didn't want to curse us by dressing nice for a possible Title picture...guess it worked!

BTW - the judge liked the sweatshirt - it has an OES jumping thru a DNA double helix and says "performance for life" under it. After he finished his happy, bouncy off lead heeling, and we were walking over for our recall, she asked if these dogs are as fun as he looked?? - and I said "yes they are!"

He was just waiting to do it at a place he knew he would get a new title ribbon. Very pretty by the way.

Harry is still waiting for his new title ribbons. :(
Can Chewie still move with the weight of all his awards and medals? Congratulations! :clappurple:
:clappurple: Way to go Chewie (and Dawn)! So proud of you guys! Did you have to bride him?

You guys amaze me. I can barely get Max to get up at night and go to bed... and look at what you guys accomplish!!! AMAZING.

How about dancing next? I can see him doing the rumba with you; afterall, they are the "rumba butt" dogs.

Not really - he just wants to have fun, and also about the same amount, wants to make me happy. So it sort of multiplies....

And afterwards he did get his favorite treat - his own hamburger at the closest McDonald's drivethru!! :high5:

Not much chance...unless he gets a new partner.
There is a very good reason I played in the dance band orchestra, not ever the one out there dancing! :cow:
