Two soft growls before sleep every night

Another weird Rudy-ism...

Every night, just before falling asleep, Rudy lifts his head toward the window, and lets out two low growls. Every night.

We've come to believe it's a warning to all burglars and other creatures: "It may look like I'm sleeping, but I'm still watching you. Stay away."

He had a great day yesterday. First, a long car ride with the family while errands were completed, and then a car picnic (he didn't get much of course, but the pickle from Mommy's burger is always a treat). Then he and Daddy (and Hudson) napped in the TV room to rest up for a LONG roller blading outing. Rudy ran like the wind, and Daddy just held on and got pulled.

After that...dinner...and then the best part of all! Grandma and Grandpa came over for the evening. He LOVES them. Especially his Grandpa. They have this really sweet connection, and he lays by Grandpa's feet and stares at him adoringly.

We played Bridge after dinner (side note: My Mom and I didn't have a single bidable hand ALL night...six points was my best, but that's not really important now and I should probably get over it.)

The dogs completely conked out on the floor, but before Rudy fell asleep he pointed his head toward the front door, and let out two soft growls. My parents found it hysterical. I guess he was protecting all of us at that point. :aww: :aww: :aww: :aww:

what a very funny habit! :aww: :aww:
That is adorable. As big a softie as he is, I bet he WOULD protect you from burglars!
What a good house protector!
That is so cute!!
My favorite thing about Maggie is our nightime routine...she sneaks past Rosie on the bed by crawling on her stomach to my chest and she lays across my chest while I pet her and tell her how sweet she is...she lays there about 5 minutes purring like a cat and then she's had enough and crawls back down to the foot of the bed! She doesn't let me love on her except for this night time routine! Tibetans do this crazy thing when you pet them...they purr like a cat...the older Rosie gets the louder the purr!
awww, I love nighttime routines!

Nola will always lie down first, right in Sam's corner. Sam will look out both windows (I always think he's guarding too!) come up and quietly wait there until Nola moves. Nola then will make sure I'm ok and snuggled up in bed by means of sticking her wet nose under the covers to get a quick pet and then head off to the other side of the room to her corner! Sooooo adorable! :aww:
