baby sheepie in St. Louis. I need help!!!!please...

I am so out of my league on this and I just don't know what to do. I just can't ignore this...can anyone help me????

Someone just emailed me about an 11 month old sheepdog in this area.

This puppy is free to a good home (or to a foster). Breeder is not in the picture, so the family cannot return her.
The circumstances are as follows:::: Women just had a baby 2 /3 weeks ago, there are complications, they do not have time for this puppy. The puppy is in the garage at the moment, but will be released to the pound if they cannot find someone to take it.

What do I do????

I sent you a pm Val....
Do you know anything about the lil baby??
Kathy, don't know too much. Just found out that they shaved her down..don't know if she is spayed or UTD on shots.

I have found someone to foster her. So, if there is anyone in a nearby city that is interested in her, please PM me. I am waiting for a call on where to pick her up.
:clappurple: :clappurple:
on that link it says 4 pure breed pups. Did the others find homes already?

play on words that didn't work..I thought the same thing when I first read it... :D
ohhhhhhhhhhh. ok. Hope you can help her out. It makes my heart hurt when I see sheepies being left behind.
Val, let me know if you need any help.
Thanks for helping this baby
AND her family, Val. :hearts:
Any update on this sheepie???
oh..Barb...It is heartbreaking.

I received more info on this poor pup and the family that owns her!!!

The 2 women who contacted me were friends of the EXMIL of the owner of the sheeppuppy. The EXMIL had tried to get in touch with her EXDIL for about 3 days after I told them I would take the puppy.

Finally...after many emails back and forth, I was informed that the owner has decided to keep the pup.

Normally, I would be very happy, but, I was told that this women, who just had a baby with some problems, also has a toddler, just got divorced and is going through postpartum.

She has a lot of her plate and I am not sure if she is thinking clearly about her situation.

I just pray that she will be ok...the baby will be ok...and (of course )this 11 month old pup will be let back into the house and be able to be a part of this family again. As of 2 days ago, the pup had been shaved down due to mats and fleas and is in the garage, with no heat...

I did tell both the women, that if anything changes, to let me know and I will take the sheepiebaby.

Of course both women apologized for a emailing me the very urgent plea to help only to have to tell me....'NEVER MIND'....
This is sad. I hope a animal rights service has been contacted to keep an eye on the puppy. Like the SPCA. Sounds like she is going to be forgotten in no time. Almost this same thing happen to Ryleigh. Married couple 2 very young kids and a puppy, Ryleigh was thrown in the backyard in full coat in the Texas summer heat. Hope she reconsiders this and gives the puppy over to you before it is starved or neglected worse.
Fingers and paws crossed that the owner has a change of heart and contacts you, Val :crossed: . Its so heartbreaking to know that there is a much better home out there for this little one!
I hope ;you keep in touch with the woman who first contacted you about the baby. Maybe in a few weeks the new mom is going to have second thoughts. A few sleepless nights and she may be looking for help. I am sure she is stressed with a newborn and maybe is thinking things through right now. I phone call might remind them that there are people out there to help ease things for her and looking out for sheepies. If it was me I would call and offer help again if the pup is in the garage and not spending time with the family. Sometimes people have a hard time admitting that they can't do everything. She may really love the puppy and hates to give him up, but may reconsider knowing you are just looking out for everyone involved. Good luck.
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight I received an email::::

Hi Val,

Well, my roommate just told me that her ex-daughter in law told her today that she definately cannot handle her sheepdog puppyplus new baby. (the one staying in the garage). Are you still interested? Just let me know.

Thanks.

I can't believe this!!!!!! I have a home for this pup...forever or foster, I am not sure at this point.

I wasn't going to respond, but I really feel bad for this poor puppy..I will post when I find out if this is going through......
Good luck Val. :D

This pup and family need a break, hope it all works out. :cheer:

Yay!! Hoping it works out for everyone!!
Oh boy.........I hope it is for real this time. I have a family here wanting a dog but fear St. Louis is too far away. Poor pup, it will have a lot to overcome.
I hope it is for real too, Susan....I have emailed asking if I can get the puppy tomorrow after work. Then my daughter will have the weekend to 'bond' with this little girl....

Say a prayer that hopefully I will have her soon!!!!!
:crossed: :crossed: Fingers and paws crossed here!!! :crossed: :crossed: Good luck Val!
Our little Margie started life spending 15-16 hours a day locked in a garage. She was 10 months old before the people who owned her decided they didn't have time for her.

All she needed was love and direction and she turned into a wonderful member of the family.

I'm thrilled this pups family finally came to their senses. Good Luck!
I hope it all turns out well. :crossed: :crossed:
Hope it turns out well.
Keep us posted.

Oh Val, I did the same thing the first time I assisted with rescue. Something just poked at me and I HAD to do something. You have a big heart! I will warn you...once you realize the impact you had on this sheepie, you will be hooked. The saying is true "saving a dog will not change the world, but will surely change the world for that dog" (or something like that!).
