Dreams are coming true finally...

Hi Everyone! :excited: :excited: :excited:

I have a very exciting news! I am going to be 50% closer to owning an OES!! Why 50%? Because this Friday, I am picking up a one year old OES/St Bernard mix girl. She was listed on Craig's list a while ago. I found out about this ad about 2 weeks after she was listed but I figured it doesn't hurt to try inquiring about her anyway and so I did. This family seems to really love her. The owner is a young mother of a 1 1/2 yr old boy, living with her mother. She can no longer afford taking care of their dog, especially that the dog is having some skin conditions and medical expenses is going to make things more difficult for her financially.

I will pick her up this Friday, and bring her to my vet for evaluation. I will also need to immediately schedule to get her fixed. :clappurple:

In the meantime...please enjoy her pictures :D

I am so excited that I dreamt about picking her up the whole night last night

She is very cute, congratulations!
That is so great. She is adorable and I am sure you will love her a lot.
She is adorable!
Oh, she looks like a sweet dog. I hope her transition from her old home to yours is a smooth one. :D
what a cutie need more pick when she comes home
Ow ! she looks adorable ! :hearts:
Do you know how heavy she is :D ?
She looks like two different dogs in that picture with the kid. Is she gray and white in front and brown in the back?
Thanks everyone!

She is really a precious girl. I will do my best to make sure she transits into this home nicely.

@Marin - I don't know exactly how much she weighs as I didn't ask :P but I read on her ads that she is over 50 pounds for sure.

@Jill - You are really observative :clappurple: I think perhaps it is the lighting and different color saturation? From what I could make out, it seems she has light brownish hair on the top of her head, deep grey hair on her ears and then white and light brown all over her body.

Well I will be able to tell by Friday. Everything is not 100% solid yet. The current family can change their minds anytime before Friday. :(

Everybody please keep your fingers crossed for me that I will be able to bring her home on Friday. :crossed: :crossed: :crossed:
Love the brown tinted hair on top. WHAT a cute mix!! I'm excited for you. :)
:clappurple:
I really hope she can become your girl, Gigi!

What a sweetheart. :D I agree about her coloring. It looks like she has more of the OES coloring/look
on her fuzzy face. Then you see her from the side and the brown gives her a different look all together.
I LOVE her big nose!

Hoping her skin condition will clear up quickly. Is her back shaved in the picture of her and her little boy?
Maybe she's wearing a shirt or a towel is draped over her back. Oh, my... that picture is just precious.

I'm so excited for you... we can't wait to hear updates.
Thanks Jaci:

Her current own told me she has been scratching a lot, so there are some hot spots. The vet told them to keep her cool. I guess that's why they shaved her back. I already told them about this forum when we first made contact. I told them to check out the Medical section as there are tons of info available...and also encouraged her to join the forum to ask questions.

I suspect this little girl needs a change of diet. Might be alergic to wheat. I just know I will do everything I can to fix the problems, no matter how much it costs :? And I have a whole forum of experienced sheepie mamas and papas as my support system for her medical journey, she will be just fine :D
What a cute dog! Her head looks like an OES glued onto the body of... I don't know what! So adorable!

Tonks is a licker and a scratcher, but no hot spots. We found grain free helps her a lot. Also, she is allergic to flea bites; a single bite gets her scratching all over. So we up-graded her flea prevention to a variety that doesn't require a flea to bite the dog to die. Can't wait to see more photos of this cutie; I hope she starts feeling better soon!
she is sooo cute. :aww: Im glad you are getting her and are able to get her the help she needs. Im sure its going to be hard on the family to let her go but its nice they are doing whats best for her. :clappurple: Good luck. :D
WOW, what a cutie!!! I think she is going to be a big girl. Congrats on your new addition.
He is so cute! I will cross my fingers that all goes smoothly Friday.
Well, you know I approve! 2 of my top 5 breeds all in one! Could be with proper food the skin condition will disappear.............. :crossed: :crossed:
She looks like a real sweetheart. Can't wait for more pictures!
Congrats, I hope it all goes well.

I'm a shaver when there's a skin problem so they get my vote! :D You'll be able to monitor the area better. A new diet and maybe some medicated shampoo might help. Then drying her thoroughly.
That is a combination you cannot go wrong with. Of the 4 dogs that have owned us over the years, 2 were OES, 1 a Shar Pei and our first was a Saint. The Saint & OES combination is going to be great! Both breeds have such positive traits. I can remember our son who was 3 at the time actually crawled over our Saint (Barney) and he never ever reacted in a negative way. Great disposition, great dogs, the only problem at all is they have such a short life span due to their size. Your guy, being a mixture doesn't appear to have the size problem to where it may be an issue, Good luck, you are a lucky girl!
Thank you everyone!!

I also think OES and St Bernard are two amazing breeds and I am really, really lucky

By the way, the little girl's name is Kalua. I plan to keep the name. I like the name for one and also I think it really will make her current owner feel better about giving her up.

I reassured her many times that even after Kalua moves in with me, she will still be in her life. I will keep her updated frequently with videos and pictures on facebook and she is welcome to take Kalua for a day out when she feels up to.

I have started a new topic in the Medical and Nutrition section regarding her skin condition and I'd like to thank you all in advance, for any suggestions and pointers.
Congratulations!!!! Kalua is adorable. :hearts:
I love her name!
She is so beautiful, too!
Congratulations,you are one lucky lady!
Please post pictures when you can.
Please let us know as her skin issues clear up.
