Herding Day next Saturday!!!

I am so excited. :excited: :excited: :yay: :yay:   :cheer: :cheer: :clappurple: :clappurple:

Tiggy and I are going to our first herding day next Sat. I think maybe I've died and gone to heaven. The facility is just out of the city probably only 40mins down the freeway from me. The guy who owns it runs it especially for city dogs.
Next Sat is a beginners day where I learn about herding dogs and how they work and think. And then Tiggy has a try with some sheep with David the instructor and then I get to have a go with Tiggy too!!

Wayne was given a business card for the business during the week and they have a place available this Sat.

This is their website.

Excuse me while I go and read it some more and get myself even more excited.
PS this video of Scout the kelpie doing the high jump it cool!

You know the OESCV have herding trials and a few of our OES participate in others. Denise would be able to help you with dates and contacts. In fact, if you get proficient you should try at our national show in October. If not, you can always come and look. It is an obedience and herding trial day at KCC Park. The NSW obedience/herding dogs will be in attendance.

Ohhh you are in for some fun!! We are just starting out as well and it is a bit crazy how happy it makes us to see Mady so happy. Pay attention to Tiggy when she sleeps after her first herding experience. Mady was running and giving little woofs in her sleep after her first day with the sheep. Please take pictures. Oh, and don't be stupid city folk like David and I and show up on the farm in Italian loafers... :|

Interestingly, most of the herder folks were wearing these kind of oilskin-like coats that they said were from Australia. Do you folks have special sheepherding outfits that you are marketing overseas?
I think you're talking about drizabone oilskin coats.

They're the traditional stockman's coat. I didnt know we were marketing them overseas. 8O

Yes - they have been here for years and years.... :D :D
Not just for stock use, many people wear them for "the look".
I didn't think it ever rained in Aussy-land  Or is the coat to keep the flying "mud" off one's clothes?
For the past decade it has hardly rained down here but this year we've had one of the wettest years on record.
So that makes for lots of flying mud.
We have a couple of oilskin coats. There awesome for snowblowing here in Michigan.
I'm going to check the web for herding it sounds like alot of fun.

At least you can look the part even though you have no idea what is going to happen 8) Dig out the Blunstones too for sheep poo and mud protection. 8) Then we want a photo of you all kitted out looking like a professional :P Hmmmm wonder if Miss tiggy can go into herding with her hot pink booties on, will they suspect she is a city girl with those on ? :lmt:

Go tiggy (psst cant wait to hear how you did  ) Will be interesting to hear how she does with david telling her what to do that will be interesting to see how much she does or does not get away with !!!   My tip is NOT she will be the perfect attentive angel.   and in shock with not knowing this man and what she can get away with untill another day after she works him out

BAAAAH
Who gets to go with Tiggy, anyway? I lost that fight with my David. I am still bitter.

NO CONTEST!!

Tiggy is my girl  and Wayne is far too slack to do any training with her, so she knows she can get away with murder with him. And she takes full advantage.

If he has time he may come and watch for a bit
good luck Tiggy, kick that sheeps butts !
