Sheepiefest!!! October 16 Details!

Hello one and all! I'm glad to say that Sheepiefest is officially on its way to being a success! This event is open to anyone who wants to join in so if you are reading this for the first time and want to come, let me know!

We collectively chose October 16 as the big day! I'm thinking 12 to ??? (any other thoughts?)

I am heading down to get the permit on Saturday. We don't NEED one but in order to reserve a picnic shelter then I thought it best to get one.

The fee is $100 unless anyone is a Will County resident and would like to go, then the fee is only $50. If I go and get the permit ($100) then that will be about $15 per family. Please let me know if this will be an issue.

The dog park is Whalon Lake in Naperville. It looks GREAT!!!

Please download the Dog Park Brochure and mail it in with the $3 fee per dog ASAP! This ensures that your dog(s) will have a permit and be able to play with all the other puppies! :) If for some reason you cannot do this please let me know and I can register for you. (the max is three per applicant)

Our current guest list is as follows:
Kate & Joe + 2 pups
Heather & Walter + 2 pups
Erin + 3 pups
Paula
Stacy + ??
Pam & DH + 2 pups
Lisa & Frankie + 2 pups

It looks great!!!! I'm so excited!! Please let me know if I've forgotten something! Let me know what you'd like to bring if you haven't already. For those of you who can bring anything, let me know that too and I can dole out a "job".

Have I forgotten anything? Let me know

xoxo

Hi Kate
The fees are fine.
Can I mail you a check.
I printed the brochure and permit.

Thanks for organizing everything.

Lisa and Frankie
Kate, do you have a paypal account? I can get you the money that way!
Amanda and I will be there. We don't know about Izzie yet, since she has not always been very sociable in the past.
I was thinking that everyone could pay me the day of? There may be more people joining and I don't want you to pay me too much...

Hi--I started searching for pet friendly hotels in the area. I found one in Chicago that was rather pricey.Gosh was it nice. If you guys know of any could you post or pm me.
We are not sure if we are going to drive there and back the same day or stay over night.

Thanks
Lisa and Frankie

This lists some good places. We're going to be in Naperville. :)
If you have a La Quinta Inn they were wonderful in Rochester NY. They bent over backwards to make it a wonderful stay. They were just great about the dogs.
There is a Red Roof Inn in the vicinity and it is very dog friendly and very clean and nice too. Not as wonderful as the LQ in Rochester, but still a good choice!
This sounds so fun. I think we Texas Sheepies need a Sheepfest here too.

Hope y'all have a great time and post pictures please. :clappurple:
Is Deb, Lizzie, Keira and Pirate going to be there??
It was my dear boy Pirate that came up with the idea
6 years ago.
Maybe it should be A Sheepie Fling!!!! :clappurple:

We have to get the permit to have our dogs allowed in the park. It's $3 a dog. Then there is the fee to be able to hold our get together there, which is where the $100 comes in.
Good Morning Everyone~!

Sheepiefest is getting close! Has everyone sent in to get their day pass?

I was thinking of bringing chili for lunch! Is this ok with everyone? anyone vegetarian? can't eat chili for any reason? others?

So...if each family could bring something...here's what I've thought of so far...

-shredded cheddar, sour cream, onions, and crackers
-a salad with dressing
-baked goods (dessert)
-styrofoam/plastic bowls, plates and spoons and forks
-bread and/or rolls
-cheese and crackers? or dip?
-hot cocoa/coffee/water

ok, back to work! Let me know what works for everyone!

YIPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEE! :clappurple:

your fearless leader,

Kate

Can't wait to meet everyone.

Lisa and Frankie
Just to let everyone Know... I just called about getting the day pass for Frankie and they said not to mail the paperwork.
They said I have to go to a place in Romeoville to pick up the pass.
Can someone tell me where thats at?

Thanks
Lisa
Let me know what you find out. We'll need to go there too
They open at 10 am on Saturday
its the Isle a la cache museum (romeoville)
phone number 815-886-1467
they said bring rabies tag and drivers liscense

Lisa and Frankie
Sounds Good! Thanks Lisa!!!

No restrictions here...except that Nola will eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, so guard your food with your life!
Nuts, I wish they had the one day passes at the park!

I'm vegetarian, but don't plan a meal around me, I'll bring something too :)
I'll make some phone calls on my lunch hour today, and see what i can find out.

Lisa and Frankie
I just mailed the paperwork with my Visa # so it would process faster.

Lisa let me know what you find out. When I read the paperwork it said to mail it with the payment.
The office I called said it would take about 2 weeks to process, thats why they suggested I not mail it from Michigan. My cell phone was dead so I couldn't call on my lunch hour. I'll try and find more out tomorrow.

Lisa and Frankie
For anyone that cannot make it to one of the visitor centers, please let me know! I can go and register up to 3 dogs per person. If I bring my hubby then I can register 4 more dogs (+ my 2). Let me know! All I need is the rabies id #.
I'm so excited.... I just finished making pumpkin peanut butter dog biscuits. They were a big hit with Frankie.
I tried one there not that good very wheatie tasting.

Lisa and Frankie
Melissa, Izzie and I will be there. Our cousin, who lives nearby, will be coming with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

We can bring a veggie platter, and will have some bottled water and sodas to share too.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Sounds great Amanda! Can't wait til Saturday!!!

oh, and I'm going to make a vegetarian friendly chili. Lisa is picking up oyster crackers. Can someone contribute cheese, sour cream, and onions?
Wish I could join you guys!!! We used to attend SheepieFest, but then we discovered that Oscar has autoimmune issues, and he's really not supposed to be around other dogs. Plus, as an added bonus, Oscar seems to get one drug resistant infection after another. A month ago, Pseudamonas, and right now, MRSS (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Schleiferi). Even my vet has never heard of THAT one! 8O

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful time.

Laurie and Oscar
ohh, it's getting close!
Have fun everyone and pictures please!

We will be at a weight pull -
Chewie and Biscuit and I

Quite the fun weekend for us all :D
Good luck at the weight pull Dawn. I'll take lots of pictures. I have a very high speed camera. Hopefully we can get some good action shots.

Laurie wish you and Oscar could attend. Oscar seems like such a sweetie from your posts.
I just finished making the cutest sheepie cookies. I am so proud of myself.

Lisa and Frankie
I forgot to ask, are we doing a silent auction? Should I bring something for that?
No. I didn't really feel like we had enough time to prepare for something like that. Anyone that wants to donate food, toys, money, etc to an OES shelter can. I will pick one close by and take care of that.

Is everyone getting excited? I know I am! YIPPEE! :clappurple:
I'm so excited. We are staying in New Buffalo Michigan Friday night. Did we set a definate time? Noon?
I brought cookies to work today for everyone to sample. They were a big hit.

Do you need anything else?
Thanks
Lisa
Rudie is going to the groomers today to get ready for the big day. I'm praying he doesn't come back shaved!

I have a busy week so I don't want to make any promises on what it will be, but I will bring some kind of snack/dessert
Noon is the official start time. I'll be there earlier though. :)
Kate, for those of us that you're helping attain the day pass for (and thank you for that!) Are we going to have to meet up earlier so we can enter the park?
Nope! I will be there early and it's an open entrance park...once the time comes to get the guys and gals playing in the fenced in area then you'll need the tag...just for proof that they've had their shots. Hope that makes sense...it's time for me to go home to a glass of wine. 8O
Hey one and all!!

2 things:

Stacy needs help getting her day passes! She's super busy!! Is anyone going the museum before the party on Saturday? You can get 3 per person so if it's you and your DH then you should be ok. If not, tell them that Sis from the forrest preserve said she would do it for us. All you'll need is Stacy's papers, which she should be sending me. PLEASE HELP!!!

Now, on a lighter note! My puppies one pic of the week in this weeks Chicago Redeye!!!! Look on the 2nd page of today's paper. I'll make sure I bring one on Saturday too!
Thank you, Kate!
I posted before that I mailed my registration with a Visa # to help expedite things. I get a call from them "today" to say I didn't put what date I wanted the one day pass.

I called them back at 4:50 when I got home and they were closed but I left a message with my home and work # because now will be too late to mail it. I asked if there was some way to e-mail it. I'm not going to hold my breath on that.

Kate, there may be another person coming with her dog. I got an e-mail today and she wants to come but not sure if she can. Her name is Jan and her dog is Sadie.
Pam,

If they can get the pass to the museum, I'll be there in the morning if they'll let me pick it up.

what a headache... :-?
Oy! I hope we're able to attend as well. We're all very excited. Evan will be with us as well.
no worries stacy! we'll get you there :)
