Dog Vapours?

My sheep dog is a 2yr old female. She is due to have her litter within the next couple of weeks. Something very strange occurred last evening and I was hoping it has occurred to others. Kalu was on my bed laying down and she stretched and yawned then went limp. I shook her but she didn't respond. I yelled for my husband and he was about to revive her mouth to mouth and she came to. She was unconcious for about 2 to 3 minutes. When she came to she was absolutely fine as if nothing happened and her behaviour through the night was normal. We contacted a vet by phone and he said that it could have been "dog vapours" which occur sometimes in "first-time" pregnant dogs. I've never heard of this before. I have an appointment to take her in next week (we live 135 miles to the nearest vet), but I was curious to know if anyone has had this happen? I am still very worried even though she's back to her normal self and no other incidents of this sort has occurred since last evening.
Thank you to anyone who responds. Megan

Are you sure it was a stretch and a yawn. Sometimes a seizure can look like a stretch. The muscles contract/tighten and the dog gets stiff, it can look like a stretch. If this has only happened once, it probably was a stretch but just monitor her to be sure.

More than likely, it was a vasovagal reaction. In simplistic terms; there is a large nerve that runs down mammals backs called the Vagas nerve. When pressure is applied to it, as in a tightening of muscles, the body reacts by shutting down. It's like pushing the reset button on your computer. The most obvious example of this is (sorry) when pushing during a bowel movement and you get light headed. That is a Vasovagal reaction. Bare down hard enough, you pass out. She probably stretched hard enough to stimulated her vagas nerve and since her body is already working very hard at being pregnant, her system shut down and reset itself.

Funny story: when I first heard, "Vegas" response, I thought it meant you suddenly broke out in sequins and started singing Tom Jones songs.
It also sounds like a seizure to me, and it can be caused by hundreds of things, however in a pregnant dog the first thing that comes to mind is that it may be caused by eclampsia, which can be very dangerous, even fatal. I think she should go to the vet immediately (if you haven't already)I hope she is ok, and I hope you return to let us know how things are going.
Where in Ontario are you? Where did you get your dog?
