Sheepiefest Poll- Which Date??

Sunday October 10th
@ Lure Coursing Fanatics in Kenosha
Not fenced in, but there is a lure course the dogs can run
In conjunction with all breed dog rescue, look at http://www.onetail.org for the flyer/details
Course is already booked and I would provide food/drinks (with some help probably)
There will be a raffle for One Tail at a Time
We could do something to donate part of the profits to Midwest OES

Saturday Octobery 16th
@ TBD dog park (Dundee, Freeport, Naperville)
The rest is up in the air but it would be a potluck and fenced in area.

Please vote asap!

This is a great feature! Thanks Heather!

I hope more people vote! It would be a shame if we picked a date that a lot of people couldn't make it to.
Either date is fine with me. So go with "majority rules."
It's neck and neck! I hope more than 10 people plan on coming. We had so many last year!
Last year there were about 20 people and 25 dogs. I think the bad weather kept some people away. In addition to promoting it on this board, I know Decram posted it on OES-L but she's not around here much so I don't know if she's still active on that list. Once a date is decided I will also post on the OES Yahoo Group.
Paula, it might be a good idea to send out this link to the list now so we can get the best date for everyone. They can vote as guests.
Looks like Saturday October 16 at a local dog park is the big winner! Sorry for adding confusion with the Lure Coursing Day, I hope some of you can still make that as well.

Kate, I will let you go ahead and plan the 16th. Just let me know what to bring!
All rightie then! Sheepiefest is officially on October 16th! Details to come tomorrow!!!!

Please let me know ASAP if you're planning to attend!

Thanks all!

-Kate
oh goodie! so it is Oct 16th then in Dundee. If so, we'll bring all the plates and plastic utensils. Steve bought enough about 4.5 years ago for us to supply 10 more years of Sheepiefests! :D
Hey Stacy!

I decided not going to go with Dundee as it doesn't allow outside food and drink...

It'll either be Freeport (with the agility course) or Naperville. I'm leaning towards Freeport and just waiting for them to call me back.

Thanks for volunteering the plates and utensils!

Bummer. If it's in Naperville we'll be there, but not sure about making it out to Freeport. Thanks for organizing though!
I have to agree with Stacy, Naperville is very doable but Freeport is over 2 hours from me. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think most people that attend are from the Chicagoland suburbs? (Deb or Paula would probably know).
I'm great with Naperville as well! Woohoo! It looks like the best spot is Whalon Lake. However, to reserve you have to do so in person at the office in Joliet. Hours are 8am to 4pm Monday - Friday.

The place looks great, our date and time is available, and we can reserve a picnic sight for relatively cheap.

Now, Down to business:

1- Is anyone in the Joliet area that would be willing to go and fill out the necessary forms. The fee is $50 for Will County residents so that would be preferable ($100 for non-residents)

2- The fee is $3 per dog and the form has to be submitted ahead of time. You can print up the form at:
http://www.reconnectwithnature.org/preserves-trails/dog-parks (click on the dog park brochure link towards the bottom of the page)
http://www.reconnectwithnature.org/preserves-trails/Whalon-Lake (this is the site that looks best for our group)

3- So far we have 7 people with 8 dogs (Stacey, I guestimated for you as you didn't specify)

4- If no one can get to Joliet this week then we should stick with last years park? Paula, can you email me the info?

Thanks everyone!
