OES humps air.

I have a 1 year old OES male ( not fixed). Ever now and then he humps the air and ejaculates. I have never seen this before, is this normal. He was the free OES in Jackson,Ohio listed on craigslist a few weeks back. He was never let inside and was patted on the head only when fed. He was so matted that he needed a complete shave down. Took him to vet afterwards, other than double eye infections, the vet said he was fine. I asked the vet about this doggy sex act and she had never seen this behavior either. Other than that he's awesome with my other dog and wife and son, and behaves and listens like a dream dog. I just need to know if this is normal or if i need to have another vet check him out that may be more familiar with OES's. Thanks so much for any replys.

He actually, uh, finishes? It's not just an erection?

My oldest OES is a regular air humper but he's neutered. He humps when he gets super excited, like when we come home or if he's all fired up when he's playing with other dogs. Since he's neutered, there's no special ending to the hump, though. I'd strongly consider getting him neutered. That'll eliminate the bad part of the problem.
My neutered OES does it, too! He is 8 or 9 months.
No OES humpers here - in fact our 3 OES boys have been the least likey for any kind of obnoxious "boy behavior" of any of our dogs.

We had a young male rat terrier that had a boy toy - a stuffie that he humped - but that's the extent of it.
I am a little ashamed to  say but Bella actually did this last night when she was getting into bed. I think that she got a little excited when I was trying to move her bottom out of the middle of the bed. She started to do it and I quickly made her lie down to go to sleep. Not very girlie of her and she has been spayed also so no hormones there  8O

Yeah he finishes. Thanks for the replies, i was starting to think something may have been bad wrong with him, but looks as if there may be a "club" of OES air humpers. LOL thanks so much all

Thanks so much for the reply.I guess all the love he has missed in his first year, may just be getting him a little excited now and then .

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLYS, I FEEL MUCH BETTER NOW LOL
I had a Pyr bitch who air humped, double so if she was playing with the male Pyr.....dominance/excitement. He's skid across the lawn, she get over his head and hump away. It was bizarre 8O

Do consider getting the boy neutered since you probably won't breed him. He's reached his max size so can afford to lose the equipment and hormones. Maybe his particular habit will also fade once the hormones are gone.
