Traveling with your pet -- Let's get this party started!

Hi,
I'd like to ask everyone's help in getting this section started!

Please post about taking a vacation with your dog or other pet. I will add some of our experiences too.

Thanks!

Hey

oes.org is now a Petco.com affiliate. If you buy something from Petco.com after going to their website by clicking on a link from this site, oes.org will earn a nice little commision on your purchase!

I'm not asking you to do any more purchases than your would normally, but if you're going to buy something, please clickthrough a Petco ad here on oes.org, and at least check out the price.

Here are some of their current promotions:

oes.org's affiliation with Petco was suggested by a member who describes his/her self as "a prolific internet shopper". You know who you are! Thanks for the great idea, and for the nudge to get it done.
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that Beau did a great job traveling from Michigan to the Philly picnic over the weekend. For a guy, who at only 5 months old, and had only been in the car previously for 30 minutes at a time, 12 hours was a piece of cake.

I bought a travel cage from Target for $24.99 (mesh and nylon) and he seemed very comfortable in it. We traveled with Jil and Belle. Belle is a pro! We stopped about 6 times on the way to Philly and 4 times on the way back.

Great time at the picnic and it was nice meeting all that attended and placing a face with the name.

Yay for Beau! Glad you and Jil had an uneventful trip :D
Max is becomming a well traveled boy. 2 summers ago we took him from Kansas City to South Dakota, and then last summer we took him from Kansas City to Pennsylvania. He absolutly loves to go Bye-bye.

I have noticed however, the summer we had him in a full coat we were surrounded by people every where we stopped because everybody saw big hairy dog. When we had him shaved, nobody came around him because all they saw was BIG dog. Not sure which way I prereffed it.
I cannot say tha Spence is a well trevelled OES. He started on his very first trip fom Appleton WI to Gunersville Al and altho he did qute well, if you consider him not eating while on the trip and only eating ice chips for many many hours he seemed as tho he never wanted to go anyway close to being in the car for those many hours. He is large and the car is small, a Madza and he was couped up for so many hours, even with the numrous stops proved to be a situation not to be tried again. Now we have a wonderful house/dog/cat sitter who comes to stay with the animals. Spencer loves the sitter and he hardly misses us at all. We've decided to take him on short excursions and leave him home when we do the longer ones. I must say he is totally happen to see us when we get back and we get the distinct impression that he would rather us not go again. They do think they own you and only what you to do as they please :P
Ron, do you have a link we can access Petco from so oes gets the donation?
I can see that the link isn't working. :( since 2005, oes.org hasn't received any commissions from petco of which I am aware. That link stopped working when I upgraded the forum, about 2 years ago, if I recall correctly.

So the quick answer is... No. But thank you for thinking about oes.org's financial needs!
