low cost spay?

We have an almost 8 month old OES puppy we rescued. She has not been spayed yet and we need to this. But our AC unit just went out and living in Texas we need AC. That will cost around 8 - 10 thousand to replace! sooo we are looking at the low cost spay program. Has anybody ever used this? It makes me a little nervous because Im not sure what kind of care she will get. Please let me know your thought on this. Thanks

Our local no-kill animal shelter has a program where they do spays and neuters at a discounted cost. I believe that a spay for a dog over 51lbs is only $65. We have a pet population problem in this area, mostly concentrated in the lower income part of the city, so the program really helps those that are going through a tough time.

Try calling some local shelters and ask who they go through.
I think she will be fine! :) It's such a common procedure. I went to an expensive dr and still had complications ...and that's not to scare you. I think things happen. As long as something is appt based, I would take my dogs to something like that w/o thinking.
Yes, we used them alot for rescues. All were fine. Maybe not as much monitoring but with a young healthy pup, I wouldn't question it. Sorry about the AC!!!!
Here in Kansas City Bob Barker offers free spay/neuter through certain vet clinics. They just request you make a donation of whatever you can afford. Is that anywhere else?
I dont think we have that here. But thanks everyone, it does ease my mind a bit. :D
Here in Louisville we have the Snip Clinic at the local Metro Animal Services at low or no cost. Pet overpopulation is such a problem in Louisville that every effort is made to have spay and neutering available to everyone.
When I rescued Bella they actually recommended a clinic to do her spay, She was two and my vet wanted to charge an arm and a leg. I took Bella to the recommended clinic and they were very nice and always offered the discounts to the rescue groups. The clinic was so nice that I am thinking about switching over to them for all the regular stuff. I think that is why some work with the rescues. Gives the groups some help but also the clinic may get new clients.
We have a low cost spay/neuter clinic here and they are awesome!
They do surgeries all morning and that is what the specialize in 8)

I worked for a vet and would take my dogs to the clinic to be done!
I NEVER had one dog that seemed painful afterwards...
The doctor here even gives her cell phone number in case there are
any complications.
(Yes, she even answers it!! Pooh had an upset tummy after surgery, no biggie)
well I just dropped Ryleigh off at the vets to get spayed. I was going to go to the low cost clinic but my dad wanted me to take her to the vet since I just got her and she was neglected by her previous owners and we still arent real sure of all her medical history, so he paid the 400 for it. I get to pay the 6800 for a new AC unit. But my dad spoils his 4 legged grandkids as much as his 2 legged ones. I know, I have 3 of each!! lol Missing her already. :(
Ryleighs surgery went well. She was sleepy last night, threw up yellow foaming stuff a couple of times, but this morning she has to be reminded she just had surgery and cant run and jump! lol Had to break out my labs kennel to put her in to keep her from hurting herself.
Glad to her she's on the mend. :D
