Winston

It is with deep deep sadness that I write of the passing of Winston, the sweetest, most eager to please dog I've ever met.

Seven years ago almost to the day, Joan and I had the great pleasure of sharing our lives and our home with Winston for four months. Then we had the pleasure of delivering him to his new family on Honolulu, Hawaii. His and our odyssey was explored here in pictures: The Incredible Story of Winston. There are links to the detailed story in words on that page.

Winston has been in our hearts ever since, and we are just so saddened for his Hawaiian family of Cris and Punky. They gave everything to save him from the sudden onset of illness but in the end could only comfort him as his heart gave out.

Thanks Winston-- you touched a lot of lives. Rest in Peace.

God Speed Winston...
I had never heard of Winston. What a heartwarming story and a beautiful boy.

He was blessed to have people who loved and cared for him and you all in turn were blessed that he touched your hearts and lives. I'm so sorry he couldn't stay longer to be with those who loved him. My condolences to you, Joan and his family.

so very sorry never knew the story till i read all about the sweet boy wow ,, you gave him a good life
After reading the story about Winston I feel I know him and it's easy to see why everyone loved him...it's so great to know the last 7 years were filled with love....so sad to know the pain his loved ones are going through and will...he touched so many lives and I am so glad he was rescued from that lonely laundry room! It bothers me to think how many other precious animals are locked inside a room as we had a homeowner move out and leave two dogs locked inside an empty house...luckily neighbors heard the barking and they were rescued. Thank you for being part of Winston's journey to a happy life..you and Joan are inspirational!
:ghug: So sorry to hear about Winston.

I am so sorry to hear of this. Our friends in Kailua mentioned they had not seen "the sheepie" on the beach in quite a while. I shared your story with them a few years ago and they caught glimpses of him now and again since.

What an amazing life you provided for him. He was so fortunate to fall into the arms of you and Joan.
Some very special people played a roll in enabling Winston to have a wonder 7 years with people that truly loved him. It is so sad when this happens but at least there are some wonderful memories.
He looked a delightful bundle of fun. Hope your friends hearts stop hurting soon...xx
What a wonderful story of Winston. I'm sorry for his loss and the pain of his family.
I remember reading the story and the picture line before - what a grand boy he was! And how lucky you and Joan were to have him in your lives even for that short time of transport. My condolences to you, Joan and Winston's Hawaiian family.
I'm so sorry.

I just read Winston's wonderful story. Thank you Ron for rescuing him and sharing his story. It really touched my heart. I'm glad he got to spend so many great years in paradise which hopefully made up for those miserable first 4 years of his life.

Rest in peace dear Winston. Thoughts and prayers to his loving family.
I found Winston's story when researching the breed. Puddy had just "fallen into my lap" so to speak. His story is what got me addicted to the org and eventually that addiction led to my being involved in rescue. So I guess you could say that Winston also helped rescue other sheepies.

God speed Winston. Say hello to Titus and Houston for me will ya?
