I'm so bummed, my vet has moved...

I have loved, loved, loved this vet. She is incredible. She uses all approaches to resolve issues, both holistic and traditional veterinary medicine. She truly LOVES the animals she treats and cries with you when things are not so good.

She moved to another clinic 40 minutes away. Now, this vet has also given me her personal email and cell phone numbers and on the rare occasion I have used it (don't want to abuse that) she has responded immediately. This is the vet who also took my poor JoJo home with her so I could pick her up later than the clinic was open, so I could take her home with me for her last few days. She also does agility with her Great Dane, so we have agility in common.

So I have to take Bella in for annual vet visit and shots. Nothing wrong with her, just routine stuff. Due to my work schedule, it would be really hard for me to get to her new clinic. I love the staff at the old clinic, and one of the vets there is a good friend of hers, but practices differently. (Less of a holistic approach) I have never seen her before.

So...do I take Bella to the old clinic for just routine stuff? Or do I follow my beloved vet no matter what?

I think you could do both...routine stuff at the old clinic and "important" stuff with your favourite vet.

Our favourite vet is now the top osteo guy in the area (and beyond) so seeing him is a challenge. When it's routine we see another wonderful vet there, but if it's a big deal I ask for him. Works really well for us.
Your vet and her relationship with you sounds incredible. I had a similar situation when my old vet moved about an hr away. Having older pets, I decided to take my girls to another vet in the practice for shots and physicals to get a feel for the new doc. Fortunately, I really liked the new vet so he's our "regular" vet and if anything serious comes up I like that I can get a second opinion from another vet who knows me and my girls. I still send pics and holiday cards to our old vet, who understands we can't see him regularly b/c of distance and work.
One of my fav vets is moving to Ohio....or has moved. The owner of the practice is great, but she is no spring chicken. I hope she lasts through this our final dogs.
