Unusual Day

I have a friend, Todd, that does landscaping. We need some landscaping done in the back yard. He came over today to have a look and We spent about an hour going through what I want done.

He had his dogs, a huge rottie and a smallish mix in his truck and told me he was going to the dog park to let them run a little. I told him to wait and I'll go along.

We spent about an hour and a half and while there we met another friend and she told us she was going to a cookout and was told to bring some dog friends and go to the dog swim at the local pool after.

We followed Todd to this stranger's cookout and on the way we passed by an accident involving a car and an icecream truck(the icecream truck turned right in front of the car). We stopped to see if we could help because the icecream truck driver was yelling at the girl who was driving the car. He settled pretty quick but the girl was pretty shook up. While Todd called the police, I got the girl some water and had her sit down because she looked ready to fall. She called her parents and we helped direct traffic around the accident.

When the parents and police arrived we left to continue on to the this strangers cookout. It turned out really nice. The stranger was really welcoming and the food was good. She has a large 15month old German sheperd and wonder of wonders, he and Gar got along great and had fun playing. Simon was a little snot and decided to be the fun police and kept trying to get between them as they were running around.

We were running a little late so we had to hurry to get to the dog swim. Simon seemed to think he could walk on water. He went running to the edge of the pool and pawed the water a little and then ummmm, fell in. The water was three feet deep and he went under a little, I had to lift him out because he was clinging to the edge. After that we went over to the steps and after a little hesitation he came bounding in. Randy had Gar on a leash otherwise he would have spent his time chasing the dogs that were out of the pool and running around.

I now have two slightly damp and exhausted dogs who are sleeping very peacefully.

Wow what a day of spontaneous synchronicities. 8O

And so fun :D except for the auto accident that is but at least no one was seriously injured.
Did the ice cream man (we used to call him "The Good Humor Man") pass out free ice cream???
I loved reading about your day and the adventures it entailed. Really love unexpected days when unsual events happen that make life interesting.

Now about that ice cream truck...too bad his stuff didn't topple out and the dogs could have had a feast!
