Thoughless breeding by another group

I'm speechless, which isn't common for me. I thought about putting this in members only, but changed my mind as hopefully someone will run across this on a Google search.

In the past I've talked about how our area seems to have an excessive amount of "box puppies" for sale. Our classifieds are overrun with puppy ad's all year round. Neighbors and acquaintances' think nothing of breeding because two dogs look alike. Considering our entire state has a population of 2.5 million, the puppy/home ratio is certainly skewed. Shelters are maxed out as are the few foster homes available.

I was driving into a neighborhood I'd not been in before. Within 4 blocks I saw 3 signs, "puppies for sale". As I was chatting with the person I went to visit the topic of spaying came up and she said her 4 year old lab was due to be spayed. Her son yelled no, I want her to have puppies like everyone else. That of course led to a kind explanation of pet over population and the thought that should be put into breeding.

I was a little puzzled by the son's reaction. Mom explained that their neighborhood had become somewhat of a small puppy mill. It seems that puppies have become a profit center for families sending children on missions. 8O 8O 8O

Don't all Christian bible's teach that man is put on the earth to care for the animals?

They skipped that part.
That's a new one. :x
Oh my.
Son needs to work in an animal shelter for the summer and pray for all those poor animals who are euthenized because of overpopulation, ill animals from mills, etc. I'm lost at the "mission" part.

Excellent idea. My son's (24 & 28) still volunteer when they can find time.

When Morman boys finish high school they are sent on a 2 year mission for the church. Long ago the church took care of the cost, now it falls to the family. Girls can go on missions too but it is not as common and they generally wait until they are older.
Not to be nasty and cold but if they need money for the "mission", they should look for a job. I'm sure McDonalds is hiring or some local place. It really irks me that people have no idea about breeding and breed to make money  And as far as the son...I know in my family my parents told us kids what to do, not the other way around...
