Sitting on me!

My little Hank is allowed on the bed, usually he just cuddles, but the bed also provides the best view out the bedroom window. When he is watching the world go by, if I am in the bed, which is often, ( I REALLY like to sleep in) he sits on me. Any part he can while still looking out the window. My chest, side, hip, legs, arm..... Is this a sign he's trying to be dominant? or just being close to me.

He is an extremely submissive dog in all other areas...

Chewie is a sitter, but only for short times, as he gets too hot.

On the floor he sits on people's feet if they are standing, on a leg if they're on the floor. He is lovin' it and mooching up some pets

He only jumps on the couch if I'm on it - he comes up, sits on top of my body and kisses me :D :D and acts like a crazy doofus for a couple minutes. Then he's panting and jumps down...

Same thing for the bed in motels (all dogs gated out of our bedroom at home - it's the only dog free zone in our house) - when the alarm goes off, he jumps up and does the same routine as the couch......
sounds more like you are in his way. Does he stand/sit etc if he's not looking out the window or in other situations, like you sitting on the floor with him? Then I would be concerned. Train him to cuddle next to you, not on you. A few louch "Ouch" and a push off might be all that's necessary.

Now Jack does rest his head on me during cuddles. That's OK. It will probably be moved when he get hot. Flying Paws are not permitted.
PS - no windows involved at our house - it's just snuggle time for a couple minutes.
Henry likes to sit on me when I am in bed in the morning. I think he is claiming me. I think it is hilarious but I usually push him off or roll over and extract myself.
Maybe sitting on you adds a bit of height for a better view out the window.
Pearl has ALWAYS sat on my lap...If I am sitting on the floor, she will come in front of me, back her tusch up and sit right in the middle of my lap!!!!    ((but I love when she does it!!!!)))
Wendel does this. He has to sit on my feet, in my lap when I'm on the sofa, yada yada. At least in my circumstance, I can tell it's because he is laying some claim to me.

He likes his 'mommy and me' time. He will gently growl when Asterisk or Levi come to me when we're snuggling. Asterisk will whine and stomp her feet. Levi is slowly learning to back down to Wendel and leave us while we snuggle.
Sounds like he's being affectionate and practical. If you're going to sit in his spot, he might as well have a comfy, human type seat to cushion his delicate bottom.
He's very cuddly, always trying to get in bed and spoon... I figured it was just a mom/pup thing, but wanted to make sure...

Thanks for all the input!
thats how dreamer wakes me every morning .. when we go anywhere if someone is sitting on a chair or park bench he backs up his butt and sits on their lap with his legs dangling
 Yep, that's Kody's favorite thing to do...he will even sit on my shoulder on the couch if I let him. I really think that they believe they are little lap dogs at times. I do think it's funny when he goes over to Marty's side of the couch and sits on him 8). I don't mind him sitting on my lap, he's just too big to sit on my shoulder..lol...I weigh in at 105 and he weighs 86lbs. :aww:
Hines is only 11 weeks old, but he sits in my lap and lays on top of my husband. It seems that he is just really affectionate because he is not an aggressive puppy. And the first time I was ever around an OES was about 3 months ago--he was 6 years old and 90 lbs sitting in my lap! Definitely an OES trait - my golden retriever never did that. Funny how such a big dog can think he's a lap dog!
