What is life like southeast of Pittsburgh?

I'm already making retirement/get me out of here plans and one of the areas I'm looking at is southeast of Pittsburgh. Or southwest, towards the border of Pennsylvania/Ohio/West Virginia. What's it like out there? Are people nice? How's the weather? What about topography? Econmics? My ultimate dream is to get a small house with some acreage (like 5) and have 3 horses and a dog or two.

Yes those are southeast, but waaaaaay southest, like hundreds of miles. I'm talking like 50 miles from Pittsburgh. NoVa would be one of my first choices, but it's way too expensive for me.
I have a really good friend that lives in Sharon Pa. I think that is somewhat in the area you are talking about. She loves it there and has a beautiful place at a lake not to far from her home. She is very much an outdoor person. I think it is a nice town.
Come to Ohio. We are nice.
Lori, you are lovely, but Ohio gets a lot of snow. I'm thinking that the southest corner of Pennsylvania doesn't, but I am probably wrong!

Not every year. That's what makes Ohio great. From year to year... it's a guessing game. Even for the weather forcasters. LOL. And-- if you move close , John would be happy to plow you out. :D
I think all of PA gets alot of snow in the winter :lmt: Sort of like a NY winter?
Kentucky is one of the top retirement places in the country - great cost of living, 4 seasons, lots of horses and dogs, and the people are very nice. Good food, too. Patch and I love Kentucky.
Aw, come on to WV, we are nice, friendly, have beautiful mountains and vast greenery, close to OHIO and KENTUCKY and we'd love to have you. The northern areas do get snowfall, our ski resorts are there, as well as our neighbor, Pennsyvania.
