Sad news for my puupy.

I just got my puppy Sunday and she started having seizures today. Its really sad watching her have one and then cry for hours. Im so stressed out for me and her. I looked for years to find one near me cause I cant drive too far. Now Im having to return her the the breeder and the sadest of all is that he is going to put her to sleep. She turned 7 weeks Monday. I am crying as I write this so sorry so short.

I am so sorry....
This is such a difficult situation.
You must already love her so much even in this brief time.
I'm so sorry for both you and this precious pup.
I am very sorry.

That is so sad. We are so sorry.
:(  :(

I'm so sorry to hear about your new baby. :(

:ghug: :ghug: I know your heart must be breaking.
So sorry.
I am so sorry to hear of this. At least your breeder is honorable by taking back your pup. Will you get another one?
I'm very sorry to hear that this happened to your puppy. Even after a very short time, it's so easy to become attached.

If you have the option to get your money back, I would suggest doing that before taking another puppy from this breeder. By what you've described, this person is sending puppies to homes too young and there's obviously health issues with the line. We would be glad to guide you in your search for another OES puppy and help you get a happy, healthy pup from a breeder that does health and genetic research on their dogs. Many breeders will gladly ship across the country so you don't have to let location hold you back.
That is so sad, I am crying for you. As said at least the breeder is taking her back. I cant really say anything else to help you, only that you are in my thoughts. Hugs xx
I'm no expert when it comes to doggie seizures, but can't medication help?
I know they give phenobarbitol to humans who have epilepsy. Does that not work in a dog?

And I'm sorry about your pup. I can't imagine what you're going thru.

Thanks I would appreciate help finding another oes. I miss hugging her and feeling her soft fluffy fur on my skin. I was lucky the breeder gave me my $ back. It had only been three days. If he hadn't I would sued his @**! She was in bad shape beyond the help of medication, having up to 10 seizures a day. I'm sad but will continue to look for another. Thanks to everyone here for caring. God bless you all!

Mark - phenobarbitol and other anti-seizure meds can control seizures in a dog that has primary epilepsy, but that doesn't show up at this young of an age. There was something else very wrong with this poor baby and the seizures she experienced would have been secondary to that. Liver shunts are a possibility, I'm sure there are others. The prognosis would have been exceedingly poor most likely no matter what.

I'm very sorry for everyone involved :(
