Rudy's eye

Two days ago we noticed Rudy's eye was a little red and had some green discharge. I cleaned it up, and we started using Polysporin eye drops twice a day. (Every sheepie we've ever had has had this happen at least once every couple of years) and our vet always checked them out and prescribed the exact same thing, so he said to stop bringing them in. Treat for three to five days, and if it's not improving right away bring them in. Makes sense, and saves a little money.

So, Rudy sat nicely while I held open his eye (and Gordon held his head still) and I put in two drops. I told him he was a good boy and gave him a hug. The next time he came when he was called, sat nicely, and we repeated the procedure.

Now he comes, sits, holds his head still and his eye open, and I can do the whole thing without even having to touch him. What a nice boy! I've never had a dog who didn't need to be held down for eye drops before. He's a perfect gentleman. I even get a kiss after!

I'm so proud. :clappurple:

(And his eye's already looking much better. No more discharge and it's only slightly pink now, so I think we're good.)

8O 8O 8O something is wrong with that boy! That is not normal.....not around here.

Well, actually Jack has been real good about his nose......only a little scap left!! And Glacier patiently endures her cyst cleaning (will that never heal?). Neither is as cooperative as Rudy!

I agree, that's unnaturally good behaviour. Take Rudy back to your behaviourist and tell her you're all doing too good a job.
Even I hate eye drops.
Way to go Rudy! :aww: :aww:
