A rescue is for ME!

Can anyone help? I know that a rescue is for me. My problem is that I am having grave difficulties finding a rescue organization near me. (Minnesota). I even looked at the links on OES.ORG. I find that most rescue groups will only place locally....I respect and TOTALLY understand why this is. Any ideas? I can travel or meet people in any of the five state area (Dakotas, IA, WI, MN). Thanks for your time.

Hi,

Can we assume you're looking for an Old English Sheepdog?

Yes! I absolutly FELL IN LOVE with Sheepies just over a year ago. I have since been pouring over the wealth of information found on the internet. I just stumbled across this forum the other day. I have to admitt that prior to visiting I was sold on getting a puppy. (Who doesn't love puppies). I have since relized the importance and nessisicty, and the rewards of saving a rescue, not to mention the benifits...there is so much good information on this website! Thanks everyone. It will be about another yaer yet before I am financially able to add a large dog to my family. But I would like to make some contacts now (as I contine to swim through all the info on the world wide web). Can you help?[/quote]
Hi fellow minnesotan! Try contacting Nancy Hakala. She posts in this forum under NAHAKALA. She lives here in MN, and takes in rescues for NEOESR. She's a great gal, and hopefully will be able to help you! Good luck, and keep us updated! Soon we'll have enough upper midwest sheepies for our own picnic!!!

Karen :)
Awsome. There really is someone locally here! Do you know where she's based out of? I would love to volunteer my time until I can get my own lovebug.
hey there,i know someone who needs to give her sheepie away due to their busy life,i know she is very upset, but she is doing the right thing.so contact me via Pm's,and ill give you the info if youd like.

Hi Zach. :D

If you are referring to little Annie with the one eye, I inquired about adopting her a few weeks ago and was told by Nancy that she had been adopted and that the new owners were flying in from the east coast in April and then driving back.

Uncle Pete :D
Hi Pete,

Thanks for the update. I didn't know that. Glad she found a home. We'll keep our ears and eyes open for ya.

Zach
Hey Zach and Pete- Thanks for the update! I did see Annie...and I also saw Pete's posting (somewhere on the forum) about her being adopted. Yea for Annie! Thanks for the eyes and ears though!
Hi Nvagle. :D

Here's the link to Petfinder.com for some of the OSE up for adoption. Check out "Seemore", a 2 year OES in Illinois which might be close enough for you to go and look at.

Good luck,

Thanks for the info Pete. I saw Seemore! I check that website almost every day! Seriously...I do. My new addition will need to be dog friendly. Our whole family has dogs. AND to top it off, Mom has a little (4lb) yorkie that thinks he's king of the WORLD! Gotta love that terrior attitude! I saw tha Seemore may have had a run in with a JRT..and I would hate to see anything like that happen.

Plus--just so all of you know out there. I really need to not rush into getting a buddy. I am just looking to make some contacts. This seems the perfect place to start.
Hi Nicole- Let me know if you have trouble getting a hold of Nnacy, I have her e-mail somewhere... Feel free to pm me!

Karen :)
Hi Nicole,
What's up with these 4 pound yorkies? My mom has one and he is a little demon. I told I'm glad he is tiny or I'd be scared of him. He doesn't back down from anything.
Caulett~ NO joke! And don't you dare wake him up or try to move him from his deep slumber you're bound to lose a finger! At the same time though...he is such a sweety. Yorkies are funny that way. they have no idea that are shrimps. I have a 12 lb cat...and it's funny seeing those to playing together.
I am not sure if you are still in search of an OES, I have a male approx. 18 months old that. I live alone and have recently taken a job that places me on the road far to much to give Bentley the love and attention that he deserves. I would love to find him a forever home. I have chose to not go through rescue because I would like some say in the home he goes to and would like to know how he is doing.
Hi Deb :D

Sorry to hear that you have decided to let your little angel go :( . If Nicole is not interested, I am. Where are you located? If you are looking for a great home for your 18 month OES, please email me. I'm still looking for a playmate for Dallas. I'll also PM you and we can exchange info.

Thanks.

Uncle Pete :D
Uncle Pete, keep us posted!!!
