Proud of my boy

We got Butch back in December just before Christmas and since we have a gravel driveway on a hill walking is not always a pleasure. Due to some health issues and weather I'm sorry to say we didn't concentrate to much on getting him to heel. Since he pulled so hard on the leash we got a shorter, more elastic one and just using that and using the word heel with a couple of corrections and he was walking like a dream. Going camping this weekend and walking thru the state park should be a real pleasure now. If only the Basset thought he should heel, that's another story.

Well done Itch!
Have an enjoyable weekend.

Nik :)
Thanks, so nice to know you did something right.
:clappurple: Good boy, Butch! :clappurple:

As the not-so-proud owner of a puller as well, I know the joys of a perfect "heel". :)

Laurie and Oscar, who thinks he's a Malamute, or Chewie

Chewie says "wait a minute, I heel great!"

and Simon (the basset) feels the need to stand up for bassets and says "we are so misunderstood".....

(actually, Simon is great, he has 3 rally titles and even heels off lead.... :!: )
Sorry, Dawn! I was referring to Chewie's superior pulling capabilities. :D I am sure he heels like a champ, too!

Laurie and Oscar, the bad kind of puller

That's what I thought - I understood

I was looking at that pulling picture I have as his avatar. It is one year ago on this Sunday, we are going to it again this weekend. Has a whole lot less hair now!
That day he also took best in show in conformation, so it was a special memory day! :D :D
Bassets are great, Tripper is our third but he is a bullhead. He knows he's boss so when he gets his nose out of joint for whatever reason he carries on forever and holds a grude. It's Butchy's fault no matter what his gripe is. Our previous OES, Farley, Would after a while clean his clock but not Butch. Figured I never should get another puppy as long as he was around but since I'm getting old and figured this was my last chance to have another sheepie I went for it. When he's good he's very good BUT.
