How do I go about rehoming our oes?

Our family might be in the unfortunate situation of needing to re-home our oes. We are so sad that we are trying to go every other route first but it doesn't look good. Does anyone have any suggestions how I would begin the quest for the perfect new home?

Thank you!

The first thing you should do is contact your breeder. He/she is going to want to know what is going on and, if reputable, will either take the dog back or help you find the perfect new home for your OES.
If your breeder is not able to help you could always contact your local rescue group. What area are you in?
and if the breeder has no desire to help, next would be to locate a OES rescue in your area. If you let us know where you are, people here know most people that you would need to contact.

and, at risk of sounding rude or tactless, be upfront if it is behaviors that are forcing you to give up your dog. That may determine the best foster and if any rehab is needed, and eventually finding the very best match in a new home.
I'm sorry you need to rehome your baby :( . It must be very hard for you and your family...

I looked at your previous posts... if you still live in New England, you can contact the New England Old English Sheepdog Rescue for help or advise if you would prefer to rehome your dog yourself. But, hopefully your breeder may be able to help you out too!
Thank you for the quick responses.

We live in Ohio so I will begin to look for the nearest oes rescue.

It is financial and family changes that are making us consider this. :( Our boy is very stubborn and requires continual reminders of who is boss but there are no outright behavior or temperment issues that would make us consider rehoming him.
It seems like a lot of people are struggling right now... I really hope things work out for your family :ghug:
I'm very sorry you're faced with this difficult decision. :(

Contact Madeline to see if she can possibly assist. She covers the state of Ohio and you'll find rescue contact info here-

If you rehome him yourself, here is a list of questions you can consider asking potential adopters-

I hope he'll find a wonderful home.
