Storms

Me and Frankie and Buzzy are hiding down in the basement right now. (well not actually hiding) There's tornado warnings out in the area, Troy's out of town, so i figured I'd get everyone downstairs while I had the opportunity. Frankie has never been in the basement before, I know he can't get down the flight of stairs so I thought I better take him through the outside while the weather was still permitting. First the satellite went out, now the power is out. Good thing for lap tops. Frankie was actually a little pacey at first, but I think it's because he has never been down here before. I gave him a few sprays of Bach rescue remedy. Now he's sound asleep. :clappurple: :clappurple:
Boy the storms have been crazy around here this year. When we were gone last weekend we had a storm, our power was still out when we got home Sunday. We lost everything in our Freezers and refridgerator.

Well I hope it's over soon, I don't want to take Frankie outside if it's still lightening. I don't want to have him climb the flight of stairs to go upstairs. I really don't want to teach him he can come down here. It's kind of Buzzies get away spot.

Hope things are settling down - they went through here earlier, we just got almost another inch (after the 3 inches Thursday) and wind. My poor garden veggies took a beating.
Lots of heavy lightning, I finally just decided to run Frankie outside around 11:30 to pee. There was a funnel cloud in the town we live in, a tornado touch down in the next small town 15 mins away. Frankie did really well. He's funny about alot of sudden loud noises but T-storms don't seem to bother him.

Last night (Wednesday) we had severe storms here. Unfortunately I don't have a basement or I would have gone in it. The power stayed on, thank goodness, but I turned off the tv just in case. Afterwards I talked to my mom who is about 50 miles away. She lives in a retirement community and during dinner the tornado sirens went off and they had to leave the dining room and go to the "storm center." She said all the fire door closed to keep them safer. I know my mother HATES storms so I'm sure she was relieved when they were over. She also said to me (and has said several times) "what is going on with the weather that there are all these storms?" I think she feels the Book of Revelation is coming true.
It skipped right over us. All we got was a little rain. It's a good thing, too because only one dog goes in the basement and I have no idea what we'd do to get the other two down there.
In Chicago we heard tornado sirens 3 times last night! There was tons of lightning, really intense wind and a lot of rain. My dogs are totally oblivious and could not care less. I'm the only scaredy cat in our house. I'm sure Walter was hiding under the covers at my parents house though.
A tornado just ripped through here this afternoon! And we are not prone to them at all! Very scary.

Lost power, down trees and electrical wires but everyone fine...Expecting more tonight. Just how do you all live with these tornadoes? they scare the hell out of me!
When daughter Lisa lived in NY, she hated the bland weather! She would call home saying she missed the dynamic weather we have here. :D

In the storms we had last Thursday, the tornado sirens went off so many times - I know at least 9 times from 4pm - 8pm. We set a state record - there were 39 documented tornados that afternoon in Minnesota! 8O
Several were less than 10 miles from my farm....
It's been a rough season here this year also. The problem I have is where I live we don't have sirens we can hear. I think that would make me feel alot better. Instead of when the news channel, (which of couse goes out when the sattelite goes out with a speckle of rain) says that your county should take cover. At that point the sun is usually shining and the storm isn't close yet.
At least I have finished basement and we just go down there and relax. The cat was kind of like what the heck is that fur ball doing down here. It's buzzy hide away.

I can't hear them at home either. I happened to be in town and stayed there until it was over.
Our TV satellite does the same. A couple yrs ago I bought a weather alert radio - that works great!
Well, I never considered NY weather "bland"! We get hurricanes where I am and major snow but tornadoes? Never! Until now! I don't have a basement. I have a crawl space and no one is going down there for sure!

At least with hurricanes and snow we get a few hours and sometimes days notice. But tornadoes. Those suckers come up so fast! 8O The scare the pants off me!!!!

It was official. we had a class E tornadoe? I think that's what they said...
