OUCH! :( :( Poor pup!! That sounds so PAINFUL!

I would take Dreamer to the vet... they could at least get you some antibiotic meds and maybe some pain meds.
We just went through this with Hudson last night. The vet said that an infection is likely if the quick is that exposed. They had to remove Hudson's entire nail. (It was awful). They bandaged it, and he's on antibiotics. We have to go back in three days for a check and a dressing change. And he figures it will need to be covered longer than that. He said about a month before it returns to normal, but that without care an infection could easily cost him the nail and potentially more.

I'd get him to a vet. The whole process, bandages, ointment, and ten days worth of pills came to less than fifty dollars (not that money is the issue, I know)...and now I can sleep easy. Although Hudson isn't thrilled with his wrapped footie, I can tell his pain has greatly decreased, and he's not catching it on anything.
i just read your post.. dreams did this a few days ago it does not seem to bother him unless i go to look at it.. bit it is raw no nail at all i guess to the vet we go..
Owwwwwwwwww to all the nail issues !!!
I don't know for sure...maybe he'd be okay since the nail is already gone, but I'd still take him in. In Hudson's case the quick had popped out and the nail was pressing on it along the slit/crack in it. Our vet said it would have killed off the quick.

Hudson's in a full on snit today. He hates his bandage, and when I came home he'd locked himself in a room he's not supposed to be in in the first place....busted. (The door latches, but not securely, and I've seen him throw himself onto it to open it. Then he sleeps behind it and it closes him in.) Not a good day to be Hudson!

Right now he's laying on the bench at the kitchen table (another no no) sulking.
ooh no... poor thing!
OUCH OUCH OUCH was the first thing that came to mind
Oh ouch.... sounds so so painful :(
well i took him the the vet ,, he is an old country dr.. told me duffy is too fat only 1 cup a day :cow:
he told me dreamers nail will grow back and would not wrap it told me it only makes it worse to heal .. 90.00 later i feel better porr duff got the bad and of the stick his yearly shots were due so got that done.. he thought he was coming for moral support for dreams and got jabbed
We mix 1/2 cup of dog food in with a cup of green beans for each meal. The dogs think they are getting a treat, it fills them up and green beans are cheap, low calorie fillers Get the low sodium ones. :)

Bennett did not like to be in a kennel. We picked him up in less than 24 hours, but he had already tried to dig out to the point of wearig all of his front nails done to the quick. Antibiotics, pain meds and steroids for 3 weeks. He could hardly walk.
OUCH!
