Duffy is gone

I am typing this with tears streaming down my face. Out 13 year old Old English passed away sometime during the night. It is so sad, because we are on vacation thousands of miles from home. We boarded Duffy and our 4 year old Old English Bella for the week. We were going to pick them up Saturday. We got a call this morning from the boarding facility that she passsed away. They said she had been doing very well, eating and everything. She had bad hip problems. Required us to help her up off the hardwood floors. Also had 2 large tumors in the armpit area. I am just so sad. We didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. Maybe this happened while we were away so we weren't the ones that had to find her passed away in the morning. It is so hard! And, poor Bella, still in the kennel wondering where her Sister is! Sorry to go on, and on. My family is off golfing, and I am sitting here on vacation crying over Duffy. I miss her so much! Thanks for listening! :(

  I am so sorry to hear about Duffy. Bella will help you get through this tough time.
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sweet Duffy. I'm sure being so far away makes his passing even harder. Hugs to you...

Tears,
Oh, how sad :ghug: Cry away, it's all the love you have for her coming to the top. It's best the rest of the family is away...you have this time to remember Duffy and how much she was a part of your life.......but she's never really gone. You carry her within your heart.

These middle of the night deaths are so sudden, but I'd prefer it anytime. Of course you said goodbye to her.

Bella, yeah she's confused and when she gets home and Duffy isn't there, she'll mourn. It's normal.
I'm so sorry. How hard to be away.... :ghug:
We are so sorry for your loss.
:ghug: so sorry....we are here for you.
How hard. I'm so sorry.
That's awful, my heart goes out to you, so sorry.
Oh how terrible! PLEASE let us know if we can help somehow. I'm so sorry for your loss and sadness.
So very sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to be away--we were away on vacation when we lost our precious Duffy--our first OES years ago. He passed away suddenly and was only 10 years old so I know the emotions that you are feeling right now. I know looking back that it was a blessing that we were not the ones to find him--but that did not make it any easier dealing with the pain of the loss. His son Sherman was waiting for us when we returned home and he did help us go through that difficult time.
Special thoughts for you and your family as you go through this tough time.

I agree--tears are a good thing so cry. :ghug: :ghug:
Oh I'm so sorry for your loss and I realize how helpless you feel being so far away at this time.

You're in my thoughts.

Marianne
I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Duffy.
As you said so well, a blessing not to have to find her passed away but so sad that you didnt get to say goodbye.
Thinking of you and your family at this sad time. :ghug: :ghug:
This is so sad. Duffy did know your love, and you will have precious memories to comfort you. I know that right now there isn't anything to say other than I'm so sorry.

I am so very sorry you lost your Duffy. Being away must make it so much harder. Hugs to you and your family x
my heart stopped since i have a duffy too .. so very sorry for your loss .. i think duffy thought it was the best for her to go when you were not around..
I am so sorry for your loss. Many of us here know the pain and heartache of losing our darling pups so we are all here for you when you need us. Some people say that our pups choose to cross over when we are away to spare us the trauma of discovering them. I don't know if that is true. What I do know is that you loved Duffy and she loved you and that love is eternal.

After the grief passes, you will remember her with love and laughter and you will be comforted by her presence in your heart forever.

My thoughts and prayers to you and your family during this difficult time.
Thank you so much! You are all such a thoughtful, compassionate group of people. Reading your replys brought tears to my eyes, and also gave me GREAT comfort. Today has been a bit better than yesterday. Trying to hold it together for my 2 boys I am on vacation with. Flying home tomorrow, and getting in late. My neighbors (who absolutely adore our sheepies) have been incredibly supportive. Our next door neighbors are going to go get Bella tomorrow and take her to our house, so she will be waiting for us when we get in around 11:30 PM. I am going to stay up for a bit just to be with her, and snuggle. Again, thank you to evereyone that replied. You are amazing! THX Susan
I am so sorry :ghug: :ghug:
So sorry to hear of your sad loss.

:ghug: to you
We just received a lovely card from our Veterinarian and all the people that work there. They also sent a copy of the rainbow bridge poem. AND they sent a card with her paw print on it. Well, that started the tears flowing again. I put them all on the refrigerator so we always think of her. The days are getting a bit easier. We are all remembering all the good times we had with Duffy. Bella is still depressed. She likes to sleep a lot in our bed. We are spoiling her a lot and giving her tons of love. I have to watch her eating habits, because she isn't eating much. She loves it when everyone in the family is around. Whenever we open the front door, she goes running to it. I think she is waiting for Duffy to come home. Sad! Thanks again for all your comments! They are greatly appreciated!
Susan
Aww so sorry :( :(

sending you ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))
when Taylor finally went across the bridge Dexter became very depressed. I felt so bad for him. After a few weeks I decided that I needed to find a new partner in crime for him. Lucky for both of us I decided to widen my scope of rescue considerations and found this site on my quest. Bella came to us as a result of this site and has brought Dexter back to his spunky self and helped ease the loss we felt. It is wonderful what a little sheepie in your life can do. I never had sheepie before but now see what had been missing. All the goofy things she does has really helped our family through these past few months. Sheepies are the best!!!
