Dillon off to Vetinary College

We have an appointment for Dillon on 6th July (my birthday) either for proceedure for Femoral head ostectomy, not sure if this will take place on the day or we have to go back.

Dills was not covered for total hip replacement sadly, and he is only covered for one leg (max £2,000) so when he is recovered we will be financing the proceedure to his other leg ourselves.

Wish us luck guys.

Hope all goes well for Dillon Debs .

:ghug: To you both .
Good luck and lets hope it turns out to be a very Happy Birthday for you!
I hope all goes well. Ellie had her FHO done 16 months ago and she is doing great. Ellie was putting weight on her foot 1 day after the surgery and never once wimpered or cried unlike when I had to put medicine on her hot spot -- the whole world heard her.

We'll be saying our prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

 Fankoo my extended family for your good wishes. Michelle, did Ellie have FTO on both hips?

She has only had it done on her right hip when she was 8 months old. So far she hasn't had any trouble at all. My vet thinks that if I keep her on the lean side and build up her muscles in her back end that we might not have to do the left one. Or if we do, it will hopefully be a long time from now - just need to have her checked periodically. Ellie loves to swim so that helps but I must say it is a pain when she wants to come in the house dripping wet from taking a dip in my pool. I need to have a car wash dryer install on my patio door. Ellie sees no problem with it.

Let me know if you need more info. I can tell you all what we went throught. One positive of the FHO is that the recovery time is much quicker and exercise/activity is encouraged where as with a total hip, the recovery time is quite long. Not to mention that they have to be kept very calm with minimal activity. Not easy with most sheepdogs.
I hope it goes well. :)
