How does a select placing work?

It's a little complex, and there is a formula to follow for if the BOB, BOS are CH or class dogs. It allows for points to be awarded for dogs competing for the new grand CH titles.
Best would be to go to the AKC site and read...

We had one night of our conformation class devoted to playing through all the scenarios for combinations and if select could be awarded. We all role played either as a CH dog, CH bitch, class dog, or class bitch. It was a dryrun class for all the ring stewards before our last local kennel club show. It was hilarious! And...class was free that night, 'cause they used us as guinea pigs! I think the dogs had a good time, as us humans were just laughing and so confused at times.
I just read it and I'm still a little confused!

LOL - I read it AND role played, and I still am confused too.
The one thing that really stuck was: if a class entry wins, none of the specials get select. But I need to reread if it is true for both sexes, or just the same sex as the winner...egads.

I haven't read it after we practiced, so maybe I should do that!
I had forgotten all about the grand champion title and was way confused at a show this weekend. I couldn't figure out why there were so many dogs at the final placement!
Oliver Ch lambluv Gambolon The twister won Best of Breed the second day and a group three. It was a thrill with such quality in the ring.
