What puppy brush to use?

We want to start brushing our adorable 11 wk old puppy, Kolby, every day so he gets used to grooming. What is the best type of brush to use and can it be purchased at a store or online?

Thanks in advance for advice!

I use a pin brush for Tiggy. She's in full coat.

I didnt start her off with one as a puppy and now I wish I had as she's a bit funny when I use it on her legs especially the front legs.

So if you were me I'd be getting a pin brush right from the word go.
A good straight pin brush (none that have the ball on the ends) and a soft slicker are good to start with.

Chris Christensen brushes have worked nicely for me and seem to last.

The pin brushes are here: http://www.chrissystems.com/brushes.htm

Any of these slickers are good to start with. They're soft and easy to work with and I find my dogs don't seem to mind them.

Hi Jill - Thanks for BOTH great posts! I do have a question about the CC brushes. What size would you recommend that we can use now and can the same brush be used for several months as far as puppy vs new adult coat?

Sorry to be asking so many questions. We had a gorgeous Goldendoodle Molly who tragically went to the Rainbow Bridge after being diagnosed with lymphoma 2 months previous. She had JUST turned 6. We brushed her but her coat was entirely different than Kolby's.

P.S. I hope my quote about dogs being kids in fur coats didn't offend you (based on your posted quote).
Soft pin brush but when one is so young I just use a Mason/pearson nylon and bristle brush to groom them through then eventually advance to a pin brush as the coat gets longer and more denser.

What your aiming at, at this stage is getting your pupper use to a grooming routine. Being happy to get groomed and lots of touchy feely all over so no problems later down the track when the coat is more intensive to groom. :D
I purchased the Chris Christensen pin brush that was recommended by Butterstotch. Bailee almost allows me to brush him now. Sometimes it is rough to brush a moving OES. Another brush which we purchased was the Mars Stripper 10 blade Coat King. This one is excellent also. It does a great job once their (hair or fur) grows in. The Hair or Fur thing is an ongoing toopic on the Forum. Not quite sure if Bailee is "Hairey or just Furry." Regardless, the Mars Coat King Stripper does a great job. We also picked up a basic Slicker Brush which is also a great tool.

LOL. I didn't even think about it. Really, most of the time I think of them as monkeys in dog suits.
