NO, don't let her do that! Not so much that she will hurt her teeth (which she could), but more do not let her do things that are cute or tolerable as a pup, that will be a huge difference in several months. Then she will be bigger and stronger. How unfair to her to crack down on her then, when it was "cute" as a smaller puppy. It is in her and your best interest to institute the house rules as much as possible now with her as a puppy, as you would want when she is an adult. ![]() Unless you don't care that your 60 pound puppy is literally eating your house.... ![]() Think of it as something we all notice with human kids - what may seem cute as a baby or toddler becomes unacceptable when they are older. It would be better to redirect her need for chewing to something appropriate and reward that behavior. ![]() |
DITTO! Every time she chews something, replace it with a bone, toy or rope - something she's allowed to and supposed to chew! |
Ditto all of the above reasons. But in addition, yes she will probably fracture a tooth chewing on something unsuitable like metal. They can fracture teeth chewing on suitable things too (if they are a very aggresive chewer) but the odds are more in their favor if they are chewing on things that are made for dogs to chew on. What is cute at 15# alot of times is not so cute at 80#. |
