Excessive peeing?

Saxon is the first male dog I've ever had (and he is just 8.5 weeks old) but he seems to be peeing like crazy!! For instance, this morning we got up at 7am, and before 9am he had peed at least 8 times 8O (about 50/50 indoors/outdoors) - this is really not something I experienced with Inca, she was much easier to read and once she'd peed it would take a an hour or two, or some considerable drinking/eating/playing/sleeping before she had to go again.

I just have no idea how I'm going to house train him if it goes on like this (its not even obvious things, like after food/water, playing etc.) so I can't get him outside at (what I think) are the appropriate times! I'm not despairing too much yet, but I do wonder if this sounds like normal behaviour for a boy??? We're off to the vet for his puppy check on Tuesday (bank holiday here Monday) so I will check with the vet too.. but in the meantime what do you all think?

Sound about right

Kenley is 17 weeks and is just peeing every couple of hours now.If he gets too excited we go back to every 20 mins and mishaps
We had loads of piddle mistakes until he was piddle pad/newspaper trained and even then he didn't always make the pad.

Kenley is trained on piddle pads and still uses them if the back door isn't open. When the back door is open we take the piddle pads up and he goes outside.
Ahh ok.. good to hear its not abnormal! Did have a feeling I was just going to have to be patient.. think I should try to stop comparing him to Inca, he is bound to be different in some/all ways (not to mention Inca is a female and clearly superior anyway )

We have been putting the pads down too.. and he seems to use them in his crate so I'll perservere (it is only day 2 after all  )
