Wahl's Stable Pro clippers

Someone just gave me a pair of these clippers. I think they should be ok to use on a dog as they have dog clipping instructions in the manual. I would like to know what blades I need as they only have a very short blade and no comb/guards. I usually get Nigel puppy cut in the Simmer and keep Bella short all the time. Can you tell me what size the blade would be to leave the longest possible length?

This may be a clipper that you can not interchange blades on. Does the blade screw onto the clipper? If so, it most likely doesn't accept the "A5" style blades so you're probably stuck with what's on there, which changes in length from 30-15-10 by flipping a lever. A #10 blade is what we use for very matted dogs so I doubt you'll be happy with such a short cut. You may be able to buy combs to fit that blade. If you have a groomer friend who wouldn't mind, ask if their combs will fit the clipper before you go out and buy anything.

If it does have the "A5" style blades (universal for most Oster, Wahl, Andis, Laube, Conair, etc. clippers) you can buy a 3-3/4 blade which leaves about 5/8" of hair length.
This clipper has two screws and takes a standard blade. I just need some suggestions for blade numbers. I just cleaned and oiled the whole thing and it is a standard blade attachment style. So I was thinking 3/8". Thanks Nita!
Great! That makes it easier. A #4 blade will leave approximately 3/8" of coat length. :-)
It says in the instructions that they take standard blades. I am checking it out now.
The blades for a Stable Pro.....are close clippers! The adjustable 30-15-10 (I suspect the adjustment is with the side toggle)...only the 10 is in the realm, even then it's going to be very close. 15 makes a very nekkid sheepdog and 30 is approaching surgical close. I did see combs for the Stable Pro......those will give you the length you want and you have the 30 blade for the cut. I've never been able to get the combs to work except on my DH  Maybe it's sheepie hair and the double coat, but the comb won't budge. Or it could be me.
The longest I saw as a blade 1038-400 which cut to 5/64 to 7/64 inch, at least that is better than the 30-15-10 which is aproximately 3/64 to 3/32.

The A5 blades are not for Stable Pro clippers, bummer.
Well I guess I can use them for tummies. It does say in the manual that they take standard blades too, so I will give Wahl a call after the holiday.
Sure hope other blades work. What a nice gift!!

Often we use 10 for bum patrol. For the body we prefer something from 3-->7...?? 3.5, 3.75, 4, 5, 7....I don't think I've ever seen a 6  Lower the number, the longer the cut
My friends used to use these on their goats...years ago. They were just sitting and they know I need clippers. I am not sure if they will work for me or not. If I can get a little longer blade or use the combs...maybe. I need to find out next week.
