So What Are You Memorial Day Weekend Plans?

So what are you planning for Memorial Day Weekend? Mine starts off with a retirement lunch at work on Friday (no, not mine  ) & then my grandson's high school graduation ceremony Friday evening. This is one of the few Memorial Day weekends that the weather has been warm enough leading up to it that our pool is warm enough to use! We are having a friend over for a cookout Sunday & lounging around & in the pool. Steak, potatoes, salad & rum hooch! Monday we will go to my son's home for a picnic, see the granddaughters that are home from college & Arhianna as well as the rest of the family. Taking pasta salad & baked beans as our contribution there. Somewhere in there I hope to finish grooming my 2 that are in full coat & possibly give them full body baths. :D I love a long weekend & especially when the weather report is this good!

You must take pictures... I gotta see this Blingiest bling!
Friday I am off work and I am going to hopefully stay home and get stuff done. Friday evening is a rally fun match before the show this weekend. So, I'm taking Riley over (his 1st trial this weekend!) to that, and getting his crate and stuff set up.

Saturday and Sunday are the show. I haven't gone in the past several years, but now that there is NO SHEEPIEPALOOZA this year, I entered. It's our local kennel club's show, and it's just about 35 minutes from my house to the show site - nice! We have a bunch of brand new competitors from our rally class, so we are making sure they are all OK and help get them set up and safely in and out of the ring! Riley's class is at about 10am each day, so no early mornings and no big grooming...lol

Sunday afternoon I'm going to scoot up to weight pull practice in Shakopee (1 hr north) from 4-6pm, and then right back down to get to my nephew's graduation party that runs from 4-8.

Monday will be a home day, and probably out to the cemetary. Then getting together with family for a cookout - not sure who's house, as there are about 45 Finch's in a 20 mile radius of Mankato.....and I should count - maybe we are over 50 now, in the local area.... 8O (This is just Todd's brothers and sister and all our kids.)

My son and his fiancee are planning to spend the weekend with us to celebrate their Birthdays...hers is today and Aaron's is on Sunday. I can't believe my baby is going to be 25. Anyway, I'm sure we'll stay busy because we haven't seen them in a while. Our 26th Anniversary is Tuesday June 1st so haven't decided weither to celebrate on Monday/Tuesday.

Good deal! I can't wait to see!!

I'll be spending the weekend on a ladder in the hallway leading to my basement :(

I ripped off all the old wallpaper. It was so old it basically fell off the walls, plus, since Candy smoked forever prior to us moving in, it was no longer a light beige, it was a dark brown (yuck!)

I got the glue off that I could reach, since I'm 5'5 and the wall extends over 12 feet, I got more work to do.

With luck, I can get the glue off in the next few days and at least get the primer on, if not get the dusty lime green on the walls.

Since I tore off the wallpaper, Wendel is afraid to go down the basement, I think he think the wall disappeared 8O
Hmm, I think we will be working on our house and outside if it's nice. I love it when Lee has days off. Not so that he can do more work, lol, but I like having him free so I can hang out with him.
Oh lets see... I am off Friday so I plan to finish the yard work & finish getting the pool ready to swim in. Saturday & Sunday I'm working so that will be no fun at all, and Monday .... who knows. No plans really so that means it will probably be spent doing laundry and such

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!!!!!!! Be safe.
I'll be hanging out around the house. So call before you come onver!

I might take a ride down to dad's house to install a wireless router for him. Pretty boring stuff, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Joan bought a rather large steak...
We are babysitting my son's dog and cat - he is going to his aunt's house at Tablerock Lake.

Saturday is a retirement party for my boss, with lots of former parents and students. I can't wait to see them. My boss has to be out of her office on the 7th - not soon enough for us based on how mean she is being right now.

I hope to go look at lake houses on Sunday. My dad had one on Lake Eufaula when I was growing up. It's too far for us to want to go there every weekend(though I found a gorgeous one there), so we are looking at Texoma.

My husband has to work on Monday, so I will play with the dogs and cats on Monday.
I am off Friday so am going to the laundrymat in the morning to wash my winter comforter (hey, who has more fun than me??? ), then for radiashuns (only 10 more treatments :clappurple: ) then ride Bob. Saturday I'm visiting my mom all day. Sunday is a Bob day, then going to friends for a cookout (I'm supplying the steaks, they're doing the rest). Monday is my official birthday and everything I want to do I can't because of the holiday. The restaurant I want to go to is closed on Mondays, and the shops I wanted to visit are closed. I'll end up at the barn and going out to eat with people from there.

And a co-worker lent me the first 2 seasons of Mad Men....
:( I am finally in St Louis for Sheepalozziwhen and no party. :( Lizzie not happy. Oh well  There is the Greek festival. :clappurple: When and where is the picnic, can I crash it? My family usually get together on sundays, but not the whole day. :? As a delicate flower of the north, I am doing fairly well with the heat and humidity. 8)
Was planning to get the pool going and do some wall repair inside. Drove all over town for the sand filter gasket and paint.......after going to several stores we were told to go across the river to a shopping area......and there, by chance, 2 doors apart were the pool supply store and the proper paint store :clappurple: Who knew??

Came home to message from #2 brother. He and W are coming down to Santa Fe for the weekend and asked us to come up and have lunch with them 8O They come every year and this is only the second time in 30 years they have asked us to join them. They will not come to see us, they arent comfortable in the neighborhood and are fearful and allergic to the dogs. (fine) So there goes a whole day's work on Saturday. Oh well.

So tomorrow and Monday will be our days, what to BBQ on Monday....hmmmmm?
People keep mentioning pools...I am ** SOOOOO ** jealous!

That's OK Mim. I wouldn't remember the holidays in your country most likely either. It is a holiday that celebrates & remembers all the people who served in our armed forces throughout our country's history as well as the people who serve in them today...the people who fought for our right to be a free country & the people who today serve to help keep it that way.
Memorial Day used to be called Decoration Day which I think is sweeter and evokes a time-gone-by. It is a day to remember those who died serving their country. Veterans Day in November (which I think UK people call Poppy Day) is the day to honor all veterans, living or dead. In the olden days, people would use the day to clean up and decorate the graves of their loved ones.
We start memorial day going to the Fair Hill Steeple Chase races (all but when I went to shepiepalooza 8O ) We have a great spot pack food, drinks, and bet on the horses There is a fun group of people and booths set up from horse stuff to rescue groups. I am in charge of chicken salad, sandwitches and deviled eggs. We decorate our area and there is a prize for the best. Everyone takes a moment to remember.
cleaning, packing and changing a glass and brass end table to glass and silver....
