Introducing Mady!

Hello, my wife and I would like to introduce our wonderful new girl Mady! She was born on Nov 7 2009, we picked her up in early January and she has completely revolutionized our lives (for the better!) She is our first dog. I've always wanted a sheepdog, but, neither of us having any experience with dogs it remained an idle "maybe someday" thought. Suddenly, one day out of the blue, we looked up OES breeders on the web, next thing we know, my wife was having long chats with a wonderful breeder who grilled us. She emailed us pictures of a litter she just had, and we were hooked. We asked for a girl, and there were 3 girls in the litter, we were the 3rd people to reserve a girl, and the other 2 hadn't chosen yet, so we were told they had first dibs and we would get the "leftover" girl. We had to wait an excruciatingly long 2 months before she was naturally weaned and ready, 2 months of preparing our home and ourselves for this new addition!

She does not seem like the "leftover" for us now, it seems like she was destined to come into our lives! We love her an astounding amount. We were extremely excited about her, but we were still surprised by how deep and intense our feelings for her would be! She's absolutely wonderful, very cuddly, very sweet and gentle especially with babies and young children, we've happily re-arranged our lives around what is best for her! We bring her to the dog park every day where she's developed a large fanbase and many regular dog friends. This weekend we're bringing her to a local sheep farm where they are holding a herding instinct test, we can't wait for it, whether she takes to it or not, the thought of our sheepdog meeting sheep makes us grin crazily.

We discovered this website, and browsing through many threads has been very helpful. It's also nice to meet people who seem to love sheepdogs as much as we do! We have to restrain our enthusiasm a bit from all our non-sheepdog-owning family and friends when all we want to do is talk about her!

Here are a few (of the thousands) of photos we've taken. I hope you will indulge me with all this! :D

The day we got Mady was also the day we met her (the breeder was a 9 hour drive from us, we are shocked by how rare sheepdogs seem to be), she was plunked in my lap and looked at me with these beautiful but nervous eyes:

On the ride home, we stopped at my sister-in-law's and Mady found a pitstop:

We should have said introducing Blueshire Mady. Now that I have read more on these forums, I realize that there are others out there who have been lucky enough to get one of Amber's pups! Are there any of you folks in or around Ottawa? We haven't seen any other OES since we got Mady in January and it would be lovely to run into one.
Ok, I figured out how to embed photos properly, unfortunately I can't edit my original post, but here's my little girl!

What a little cutie! :aww: :aww: Welcome to the forum!
Mady is such a cutie! Welcome from South Carolina! :P
Amazing how they can find a place to fit...our Martin thoroughly believed that he was only as big as his head. Wonderful pics and really looking forward to a playdate soon!

Ours are certainly enjoying the cooler weather the last few days.

Really enjoying the thought of another bobtail in the area!

Must go get the "portable speedbumps" out the door and around the block while the road is dry.
Love the picture of Mady in the shoe rack!
