OES named Abernathy in Atlanta

http://www.atlantapetrescue.org/www_ver ... /large.htm

Abernathy is a beautiful 5 year old Sheepdog.  He weighs about 70 pounds and he gets along great with other dogs.  He seems to be a calm & quiet guy who just needs a little love and affection.   Abernathy will come when called, sit on command and is very well behaved in the house.
Abernathy needs a foster home.

Hey Atlanta OES lovers...look what I found at the Atlanta Pet Rescue! 8O Abernathy is in a good & very safe place BUT I bet he would love to go to his furever home soon...it is Spriiiiing in Atlanta

I am ready to get a second OES. I just emailed them. Thanks for the post. I am in North Carolina so I don't know how far he is from us?!
Lucy :clappurple: ! Please post how it works out.
Lucy I will help transport up I85 to NC...rescue road trip...my kind of fun
Let me know if that would help!
Diane
Abernathy, what a perfect name for an OES, reminds me of the dog in a series of books by Terry Brooks.
Diane, that would be GREAT!! Where are you in general?
Diane & Lucy/Thumper:

I am also in Atlanta. If I can be of assistance to this project in some small way please don't hesitate to contact me.
Hi Lucy/Thumper I am just outside the perimeter/285 near I85. Have you heard from Atlanta Pet Rescue yet?
Diane
Hi Just checked the web site for Atlanta Pet Rescue.
Message says...Abernathy is in a foster-to-adopt home.
That is good news for Abernathy...I hope it is a good furever for this cute fella :D
I hope so too!! Thanks again for offering to help me!
Hi all -

I just spoke with Atlanta Pet Rescue and they told me that while Abernethy is in a foster home, the family has not yet decided if they will adopt him. She advised me to check back later in the week to see if they had made a decision. I will call back on Thursday evening or early Friday. He may still be available. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for the update. I just emailed them again and I will let you know!

Hi Alison
I just came back from a trip with my foster sheepie to a new groomer...during our chat about rescue Amy the groomer said that she works with Atlanta Pet Rescue & had just groomed a sheepie named Abernathy! 8O Gee, what a small world! I asked how he was doing...she said he is a doll & living with a family looking for a play companion for their beardie. So far, Abernathy just looks over at the beardie...as if to say...you want me to do what  Hmmm...sounds like Abernathy just wants to chill right now  I will let you know if I hear anymore!
Diane...offer to transport still stands :D
GREAT!!!!!
Alison :D
Abernathy is available for adoption today! The foster to adopt family wanted a pupper that would play with their Beardie. Abernathy plays with the shelter puppers but for some reason chooses not to with the Beardie
Judy w/Atlanta Pet Rescue called me just moments ago...please call her directly if you are interested...I will email you her phone number!
Diane
Call quick Alison :D He sounds like a nice boy, I hope it works out.

Update on Abernathy taken from Atlanta Pet Rescue website :D

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Abernathy is a 5-6 year old male Sheepdog lookalike. He is very gentle, calm and affectionate. He loves other dogs, and is housebroken.

Abernathy is at home with a potential adopter.

This is what his foster mom has to say about him:

Abernathy is a happy, gentle dog who loves attention. He loves to go for energetic walks and is very obedient. He has been very good with my 11 and 12 year old children. He is not interested in playing with my rambunctious terrier, but is tolerant of her jumping on him and trying to play. He looks like a big bear when he is stretched out asleep on the floor.
Abernathy doesn't shed, but needs a good brushing at least every 3-4 days because of his beautiful thick coat. He is a wonderful companion dog with a great disposition.

I hope this will be his furever...he has been shuffled around a bit

I'm so happy for Abernathy and his new family :D
Yay! He looked so sweet in all the pictures. He looked like what I would expect a mix of Clyde and Lucy to look like so of course he had to be great :)
   Fabulous!!! He looked like such a sweetheart!!
