Not that it matters but I think I may have been scammed.

So not that it matters, but I don't think my new pup is a pure bred OES. She is very sweet and I am insanely in love with her and when I picked her out they showed me pics of the "parents" but she isn't getting very shaggy and she is almost 5 months old. She definitely has OES in her, and I have seen one of her siblings since I purchased her, and he is shaggy and definitely OES but he is already a bit bigger than her.
She has gotten a little shaggier since i got her, and I guess I don't know how long it takes for them to start to get their coat in, but I strongly suspect I was misled and I have not gotten the AKC papers I was told would come about a month after I bought her. I think maybe I got scammed, but she is such a sweet little lover, I probably won't do anything about it.

Do you have pictures of your puppy? And how long is her fur now?
Can you post some pics to the forum? A 5 month old sheepie should be very soft and fuzzy (the 1st coat transition to a courser gray and white coat is many months away yet) but the fur would be fairly long. A single litter can have more than one father, so its possible for a sibling to be full blood sheepie even if your pup is not.

Regardless, Im sure she's a doll...lets see some baby photos! :aww:
So I am not very tech savey, which is funny because I am married to an ERP Specialist (Computer Geek). I did add a pic of annabelle as my avatar and will try to figure out how to post some on here.

Hon, if you were promised AKC papers, the AKC may be a little interested in the fact that you haven't received any.

If your girl is not a purebred OES, neither are any littermates, no matter how much more they may look like an OES. There are plenty of people with OES mixes of various sizes, colors and hairiness and they're great dogs, so, as you say...you love her, that's what matters.

Still, I hate being lied to, personally.

Looking forward to more pics. Not very computer savvy myself, so I sympathize though.

First off, LOVE the pic! Very cute!

It's hard for me to tell from that picture, since it's so small. So definitely post more!

Here is a picture of Asterisk at 5 months old, if it helps any

So yeah, the being lied to really bothers me. I probably would have taken her anyway, though at a slightly lower price.

She definitely is nowhere near as hairy as Asterisk. Asterisk is such a cutie pie though.

Still can't figure out how to post the pics. Any suggestions?
Here is the info on how to post pictures

Can't wait to see more pictures of your baby. Even if she's NOT full OES, she's still precious. Asterisk is 'pet quality' and Wendel is definitely closer to what a standard OES should be (i.e. she's tall, lanky, and thin; Wendel is very square and blocky).

Asterisk is the love of my life though, so the fact that she isn't show quality doesn't bother me at all!

finally got it figured out. See what I mean though. The more she grows, the less OES she looks.

Wow, Ron! We posted at the same time!
Very cute, baby! I love her eyes :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

But, yes, I'm afraid it looks like the breeder misrepresented your puppies lineage. I can see some possible border collie.
Hi Jeremy, your baby looks super sweet! Looks to me like a sheepie/collie mix, what a beautiful face! I'm sorry you feel ripped off. The only consolation I can offer, is that your baby is with you for a reason... I believe dogs choose their owners even before they are born, then we think we have chosen them
I was thinking maybe some Austrailian Shepherd. Hope she gets a little fluffier though :(
Border collie mix was my first impression as well.

She really is a beauty though. Those eyes!

I don't know how fluffy she's going to get. Her coat looks fairly smooth. I think her coat may get as thick as a border collie though. I love the shine to her blacks. I'll bet she's soft too!
She's a very pretty girl, but I'm sorry to say I don't think any OES in her... border collie and maybe some husky in there?

Doesn't this look like the same pup? I kept thinking she looked familier :lmt:

That is exactly what I thought!

Still....a beautiful pup!!!
She looks OES/Australian Shepherd to me. Very cute pup, but definitely not what you bargained for!

If you paid a lot of money for this dog you can certainly take legal recourse since you did not get what you paid for. If this is a registered kennel (they have a business name), then you can report it to the Better Business Bureau. You can also call your local representative/alderman etc. and see if they can offer any help.

I would not let it go unheard though!
My little Hank is an OES mix, prob with some sort of collie dad and he's WONDERFUL!!!! At first I was bummed that he wouldn't be bigger, but now I really appreciate it. He's 8 mo's now and only 37lbs, just the right size.
Also his hair is now the perfect mix of OES and ???? Its long and he looks like an OES, but it's more straight so it tangles less. (Still tangles, but not nearly as much I would imagine!)

I'm sure your little girl will turn out to be just perfect for you!

My gosh, you're right. They really do appear to be one and the same - down to the shape of the nose and the little dots next to it and all:

8O 8O Wow sure do look like the same dog!! WOW.
She's beautiful tho'. Looks very soft. I'd love to snuggle with her and pet her!! She's a cutie pie!

I'd be upset about being lied to as well. Not enough to give the pup back.. but just on principle. I agree with others postings about not letting it go unheard. They will continue to lie to people untill called on it. There is no reason to lie to people.
There's the similar OES color, but I don't think that dog has any OES in it. I still love how pretty that dog looks!! Sorry that happened :(

I thought I was just having dejavous (or however you spell it) those dogs look identical! Were they from the same seller?! :lmt:

You found the picture! I thought she looked familiar, too. She is precious though.

I agree with Heather. If the breeder gave you a puppy that was sold as an OES and you paid an OES price, then that is just immoral and wrong.
She is really cute.
She's beautiful :D I'd say Border Collie x OES from her pics.

I agree with Kristine and Heather. I'd speak with the breeder about the misrepresentation and see what they are willing to do. Do you have a copy of an advertisement indicating what the breeder offered? Something in writing will help to substantiate she was sold as an OES. If were supposed to get registration papers, report it to the AKC. Follow up with the BBB... it will at least be a public complaint. If all else fails, small claims court may also be an option. How far you pursue it may depend a lot on how much you paid.

Do what you can to address the misrepresentation then put it behind you. No matter what, enjoy your baby. :hearts:
Such a sweet looking pup! If you purchased her as an OES, that is terrible that someone would like to you. But, you did get a beautiful little baby who probably loves you already! I would report the breeder however.

Good luck with your new baby. Hope you stay in touch here at the forum!
