Oh NO! Pooooooooooo!

Ugh ugh UGH UGH!!!!

I got home from work to find rufus in his crate covered in runny and extremely SMELLY POOP.

Luckily the bathroom is right next to the bedroom where his crate is, so I filled a bath and put him straight in. I couldn't have walked him through the house with poop all over him  so two baths later, he smells a little better. BUT I had to throw his bedding away -which was not the new one-phew. I think he had an upset tummy, but he seems fine now I'll keep a close eye on him.

My other worry is.. he was due a grooming session tonight. I had to bath him without brushing him first, I've never done that before. I think I'm going to be grooming most nights this week if he has got matted! I just hope he has no more runnies- my poor boy!

I SWEAR I CAN STILL SMELL IT I'm lighting ALL my Yankee Candles

Oh, I've been there.
Not poo, but Chewie jumping in the mucky-muck of the yard pond. Not brushed out before (like I'd PLAN to have him swim in there  ), but no doubt that he needed a bath, and QUICK!

It wasn't as bad as I dreaded, as he wasn't that horrid to begin with (and I bet Ru too). I hope the house airs out, and the tummy is settled.
I had something similar. Wendel doesn't arch his back when he poops. So he walks and poops at the same time. When his coat is full, he has chronic poop getting 'caught' in his furry butt. Ugh, so gross! I had to scrub his rear every other day to clear out his fur.

I'm so glad he only has a 3 inch puppy cut right now!
Poor Rufus :(
Hope his belly is ok . :)
oh Poor Ru, and poor you. Hope his tummy is better.
Summer and Tilly had 2 baths yesterday each!! Summer objects to baths anyway it takes 2 of us to keep her in the bath, then the little monkeys managed to get in the garden and played chase and they were still really wet. So we had to get back in the bath again. :|

Once he grows out, if it starts "catching" again, it's usually your sign that it's time for a butt trim

I'm sure there are instructions on here somewhere if you need inspiration.

Must bee a poop weekend! My female found some very new just dumped cat poop. Nice and soft. She found it, stuck her nose in and then ROLLED all over in it...The sheer delight on her face was funy but WOW the smell was terrible! We missed a show since I then had to give her a bath and ry...and I swear the house still smells like poop...what is it about poop?

Hope whatever caused your dog to have th runs is better...
I hate it the way you think after a poo explosion and clean up the smell lingers in ones own mind.

Hoping Ru's tummy settles and no more explosions :plead: Especially when in full coat, nothing worse the butt clean up.

Starve him no food for a day then start him back on a light meal of rice and poached chicken fillet, see how that goes then gradually start introducing him back to his normal diet, if no improvement then off to the vets. Just make sure plenty of water in the meantime.

I hate tummy bugs and sloppy ones :?
i know that feeling, it sort of happened to me last week but we were in a caravan!
one sheepie covered in stinking of black horrible mud up to his chin and a staffy that loved to roll in poo of any discription. at least you had a bath at hand!

i hope ru is better now and the candles did the trick x
My puppy tends to have soft poo most of the time, and far too often she ends up with a bit of a mess. If it's not too bad, a few baby wipes and it's ok, sometimes it's bad and I have to wash her butt in the tub... she's overdue for a butt-trim too right now, so it's been worse than usual this past week.

When I was younger, I did not expect someday I'd know so intimately a dog's behind. :D
Hi Baba, I dont think we've met.
I love your avatar picture, so cute.
My Tiggy (OES) was the same when she was young, well nearly, not runny but not properly formed. I changed her food over to a different protein source and everything settled down to properly formed poop and hardly ever any cling ons.
Hello! my intro post is over here viewtopic.php?f=27&t=29746

We've only fed Mady Purina Pro-Plan Large Breed Puppy formula:
http://www.purina.ca/products/dogs/pro- ... puppy.aspx

This was the food our breeder uses and suggested, it's the only food we've used so far. She is gaining weight normally, is in all respects healthy, she's had her poo tested for parasites and it was all fine. The vet had us add some pro-biotic powder to her food the first few weeks. So everything seems fine, except as mentioned, most of her poo is fairly soft consistency, not liquid or runny, just soft. And often she gets some on her butt.

I have become an expert butt cleaner :D
Welcome to the forum. I'd been too busy to make it to the introduction section.

Tiggy was originally on Eagle Pack large breed puppy as that was the food the breeder was feeding her.
I swapped to Proplan sensitive skin and stomach when she was old enough to go off puppy food just to see if that would change anything and it has made a big difference.

I'm losing my expertise in butt cleaning. She was growing and healthy before but I'm glad I dont have to clean her butt much any more.
Has RU' dried up?

How come no pictures this time?
I decided to spare you the ordeal of pics

Like I even thought of the camera in such an emergency

Ru has been up & down all week, I thought he was better- then it happened again! :( He's been on chicken & rice, he seems better today, luckily we have been able to spend all our time with him since Thursday. He seems just as playful as ever though!
