I had my eyes dilated. I can't see anything!

I have dark brown eyes and it takes forever for my eyes to dilate for the doctor's exam. Then it takes forever for them to return to normal.

I can't stand any light-- I wear several pairs of sunglasses. Last time I had this done I had to wear sunglasses at night as oncoming headlights hurt. Today is a bright bright sunny day, I'm scared to go out of the doctor's office!

The title is a bit misleading, kind of a prediction, really. The drops haven't fully taken effect yet so I can still see my iPhone, but I know my near vision blindness is coming!

Please forgive any typos!
I was wondering about that! I thought about posting "How are you seeing to write?"...but then I thought, how will he see to read that question? :?

Driving doesn't sound like a good idea. can you get sound (like podcasts, or anything similar) on your phone to keep you entertained for a while?
Yeah, my eye guy would say, bring something to read while you wait. 8O 8O If I could read then I'd be driving.

It's the pits especially here with our intense sunlight. With the glasses, I still drive home squinting thru tiny slits.

On the other hand the dilated eyes makes you look so sexy
today you should be in MN - a nice overall cloudy grey day. :D Your eyes would thank you

My eyes are like that too.

Back in summer I had my car serviced and went to the mall while I waited to pick it up. I sat in quiet corner of a coffee shop with a book. I didnt think about the fact that it was quiet gloomy in there and read for the couple of hours until the car dealer rang me to say they had sent the courtesy car to pick me up.

When I dropped the car off it was overcast so I forgot my sunnies. When I came out of the mall it was bright sun. It was so embarrassing. It was all light concrete and I was blinded so I had to stand with my eyes shut as I had tears streaming.

And then just keep taking a peek to see if the car was there yet.

When I had mine done, I actually scared myself looking in the mirror, I couldn't see my iris' AT ALL- yikes!

Hope you are feeling better soon :ghug:
Cataract.......if you wear glasses now, you won't after surgery as they implant a new lens. I keep asking my eye guy, "Don't I have cataracts yet??" He looks at me like I'm nuts.
poor you! stay inside and wear your shades...all the celebs do...
As the proud owner of TWO lens implants as the result of cataract surgeries let me say the difference is like night and day. Once they got "ripe" enough to remove, my vision, especially night vision greatly improved. The comment about not needing glasses isn't exactly correct though. I still need reading glasses but overall it was the best thing I ever did. The surgery itself it unreal! Very fast and unlike years ago there is a much easier recuperation and follow-up routine. Lots of drops for a couple of weeks but no need to wear sunglasses for a prolonged time and life will be almost normal. Best of luck. I had mine done 2 weeks apart. In fact my 92 year old Mother had her one eye done the same day I had one of mine done. Our eye Dr. had a banner day.
