Tomorrow's the big day! :)

Tomorrow night, at around 9:40 pm my puppy will be arriving at the airport! I'm so excited. I wonder if I'll be able to sleep at all tonight. I hope so, considering I have a Math test bright and early in the morning. :P

As far as names the two I like the most right now are Arthur and Odin, like the Norse god. Of course Odin would have me calling him Odie a lot..:)

Arthur is a righteous name for a sheepie. And remember, we expect lots and lots of pictures.

Aw, Julie, I bet you're so excited!! Can't wait to see pictures of "Arthur" or "Odin"! Be sure to take lots of them. Can't wait to see him at the picnic in May, too!
Good luck!
Chris
Good luck getting some sleep tonight! It is soooo exciting!! And of course - we want pictures!!
That is so neat that those are two of the names you are considering... my girl Dancer's father's name is Odin, and my girl Sky's father's name is Arthur! LOL Odin is my favorite of the two. :)
you are so lucky. Arthur Pendragon would suit an oes then you could look for a Guinevere. luv pepe

I was looking for names on Babynames.com about a week ago, and came across Arthur, supposedly it means "bear" or something similar. My boyfriend then suggested Odin shortly after. And then earlier today I was browsing the old Picture posts and came across the one mentioning Dancer's father's name. I thought that was cool. :) But to have Arthur be Sky's father's name is even neater. I think I do like Odin better as well! :)
Congratulations!! Both of your names are great choices. I love how most of these dogs have human names. Can't wait to hear how it goes tomorrow evening. I wonder if he'll go straight to sleep when you get home, or if he'll be up alot? We got our puppy around noon, but he was quite sleepy during the day, the flights tire them out!!

Well he's coming all the way from Colorado, will probably leave there around 2ish, connect with Atlanta around 6ish and arrive in Philly around 9:40. So I imagine he'll be tired. I hope he has some energy left though. I usually go to bed late myself and I really wanna play with him a bit before going to bed. :D
Aww, you must be so excited! I like Odin too and Odie's a cute nickname to go with it :P
I'm excited for you!! Wish we were picking ours up tomorrow, but we'll have to wait until Saturday. :(

I love the names you've picked out!

Have fun tomorrow!! :D
Hurrah another puppy :D I'm so jealous :D Try to get lots of sleep tonight so you can have lots of fun with Odie(love that name) tomorrow. Good Luck!
Yeah, I think Odin will be the name I'm going with. This time tomorrow he'll be here! :D :D I *really* hope I can get a few hours sleep at the very least, so I can at least *try* to pass that test tomorrow. I have a feeling I'll be doing badly. :P
Congratulations on your new puppy. My puppy, Beaumont, is now 14 weeks old and he now sleeps 5 hours straight through the night. I love the names that you picked out. This is a very exciting time! They grow right before your very eyes!

Best of Luck,

Karen, Mollie and Beau
Both are beautiful names! I'm sure you're exctied. Make sure to post pics when the baby arrives.

Karen :)
Im so excited for you!!!Your going to have tons of fun w/ him.I know my Mickey doodles has been a true gift to me and my family.Once you get an OES they change your whole life for the better. Many congradulations to you and your new baby!!
We're leaving shortly to pick him up! Yay! :D I'll post later tonight, when I've got time.
How exciting! :D I can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures.
Well he's home, and we've officially decided to name him Odin. His flight actually got delayed. He flew from Colorado, to Atlanta, and coming into Philly from Atlanta he was about an hour late. Once the flight landed we went to the cargo pick-up area and behind the office was the back of the office that was open and we heard a puppy whimper. And sure enough it was him! :)
I sat with him in the back of the van and he was scared at first, and a bit shy. I fed him some kibble, and he was really hungry. Makes sense I guess since he was in the air practically all day, poor thing!
Then he layed his head down on my leg and slept a bit, then drank some water and by that time we were home. He went #2, didn't go #1 til a little while later, and decided to do that on the area rug in my room..*sigh* Then while I was cleaning out his crate in the bathroom he went #2 again. o_O Neither was too hard to clean up, thank goodness. He played with me for a bit, he's doing that playful biting thing, but of course that will be curbed. He's already chewing and playing with his toys. He had the hiccups a bit when he got home too, pro'lly from eating and drinking too fast. :P Barked a bit but that was quickly silenced with a chew toy, as my mom has to get up early! Heehee. Then I had him on my lap a bit and he got reaaaaal sleepy, and once I brought his crate back into the room he went right in it! This is a great sign! :D

Tomorrow is his vet check-up, I'm sure everything will go well as he's had his first puppy booster shots and prevention against worms. But one thing is certain...I'll be letting him out to go potty more often tomorrow!

I'll also get some more pictures of him tomorrow, as he started getting sleepy when I tried taking some with my webcam. :)
:) Sounds like all is going very well for the first night home!! When Max came home, the first thing he did was waltz into the living room and pee on the carpet, which didn't surprise me!! So I basically took him outside almost hourly at first. The housetraining has been the easy part, it's the nipping, biting, chewing, that wear me out!! I can't wait to start his puppy training next month. Let me know how Odin is doing and I'm soo happy for you guys!!
Sharon
Congratulations, Flare! I look forward to hearing lots of Odin stories - and of course, seeing pictures!
Sounds like things are going great! Pictures please
Well he's already been out three times since 5 am. Once at 5 am, once after waking up around 9ish, and once after his first meal of the day. He didn't have any accidents in his crate during the night, but he moved around a lot so it was hard for me to fall asleep too. He seems to be one of those animals that just can't get comfy! :P I got him one of those migrators toys, the duck one. He likes to grab it, walk around his crate in a circle and take it in there with him. He does that with the hedgehog toy as well, it's cute. :)

I've noticed he's a very good lap dog, surprisingly good for a puppy, I can tell he was very well socialized. The biggest problem like I said before is the occasional nipping and trying to chew on my clothes. :P

I'll post some pictures later, though they'll be webcam pictures, as we don't have a digital camera, just the old fashioned disposable which will be sent in once we have plenty of Odin pictures. :D
How exciting!! I can't wait to see pictures of him!

:D Have fun!!
Congrats on your new puppy! I have one that is a 6 am'er...whether or not we need to get up at that time. I would really love to sleep in on spring break! Also, she nips at my clothes too, I take it as a sign that she needs something...to go out, fresh water etc.
Flare,
Do you have any pics to share yet???? I'm anxious to see how cute your little giant is!! :P :P
:D
Sorry guys! I know I said I'd have some up already. I've taken plenty with the regular camera, but I'm not on the computer enough since he's been home and Odin is such a rambunctious little guy that it's hard to take any on the webcam. :P

He's doing pretty good though. The vet thought he was a little on the skinny side and said to change his food and make sure he eats more. He's getting bigger by the day though, it's scary how fast they grow! As I said in the post in the behavior section, he loves to nip as many Sheepie pups do. But of course he's also teething. I tried the ice cube trick, he seems to like them, and I'll definetly look into that frozen bone thing. He's quite attached to me and follows me everywhere.

He had a little accident in his crate earlier today, unfortunately, and I had to give him his first bath. I was planning to anyway, so it's no big deal. I know most of you would say this is a no-no but since I stay up fairly late most nights I don't get up early (2,3ish am :P ) I let him sleep next to my bed. He seems pretty well behaved late at night into the morning. I tried the crate the first two nights or so but he cries and moves around a lot in there and I can't get to sleep. x_X I'll keep trying to get him used to sleeping in there but I always feel so bad locking him away. :P
Oh, forgot to mention..we're getting better as far as accidents. Only a few today, I always take him out about 15-20 minutes after eating and drinking, etc, and I think it's going well. Hopefully soon we'll have no accidents. :D
I don't blame you for not enjoying the "crate". We have never put our dogs in a crate at night, because I feel so sorry for them. Hercules sleeps next to our bed, and we blocked off a little section for him. He seemed to like it last night. He slept very well.

I'm not sure what the "correct" method is, but I'm not a fan of crate training. (yet, anyway!)
Hercules sounds like a doll....
I do use crate training, but if I was home all day and all night I wouldn't. My parents never crate trained a dog, all theirs are housetrained within two weeks. They confine it to the kitchen at first, covered in newspaper, then make the area of paper smaller and move the square of papers closer to the back door. Then the last square of paper gets moved outside and voila the pup is housetrained. They've never had a dog who wasn't completely reliable, once it is trained, that's it, it's trained.
Julie,
Don't know how I've missed these posts about Odin coming home! He sounds adorable, and like everyone else, I can't wait to see his pics. And I can't wait to see him at the picnic in May! What a hoot this will be!
