Now I know why I have Sciatica

Next Monday, it will be THREE months since I turned into a little old lady who can't do nuthin! Last week I had an MRI and today I went to the Dr. to find out the results.

I have a cyst on my spine. The report on my spine read unremarkable until they got to the cyst. Then it was a whole paragraph on this stupid little cyst. Its compressing the nerve and thats the reason for the pain and pins and needles feeling I get in my leg.

Next week(I think) I will go in, lay on my belly while someone digs around in my spine and they will TRY to aspirate the cyst and then inject steroids into that spot. YIPPEEEEE, looking forward to THAT!!! If that works, it will take up to three weeks to start doing cartwheels again.

If that doesn't work....if the cyst is calsified, then its going to be surgery to get that little bugger out of there.

At least now I know what the problem is and the plan to take care of it, but I just wish it was all over so I can run and jump and play again.

Well, that is mostly good news.... :?

At least you know the problem and have definitive means of fixing it! :D

I hope the aspiration works :D
I agree knowing is the good part.

You have been much more patient than a lot of people would be about this. Hang in there Pam and we will keep our fingers crossed for the aspiration.
Looking forward to seeing you doing cartwheels again. (plz make sure it is on video) :D
That's great news that they figured it out and sounds fairly easy to treat. :)
All that agony over a little cyst? Sounds like it should be a simple procedure too. How wonderful to think the pain is not forever!! :clappurple: :cheer:
Wow, you really went for an unusual cause of sciatica. 8O

Good luck with the aspiration, looking forward to hearing about the cartwheels! :D
My mother always used to tell me that having aspirations was a good thing, and she was always right.

Woo hoo!
Yeah, hope it goes well so you don't have to do the second thing. :)
Glad you now know the cause-- :crossed: :crossed: :crossed: all fingers and paws crossed that the aspiration works!
DH would gladly trade places. At least it's not a structural problem as his is. You'll be doing cartwheels soon!
8O wow. Hope it's resolved the easy way and not surgery!!!
The procedure/surgery sounds awful!! :( I'm sorry. I too am glad you at least know what the cause is, and I hope you feel much better after the fix!!
