Frankie was given a timeout at daycamp today

When I went to get Frankie at Daycamp today they said he had to be given a timeout for too rough of play. He wasn't agressive they said but some dogs don't like to be rough housed and it could of turned nasty. So they pulled him from play and let him calm down then put him back in and he was fine. Now worry wart me is wondering if this is a start of something bad. Do I need to do anything to make sure it doesn't become agressive. Or is he just a crazy sheepy teenager.

Sounds like a crazy teenager.

I occasionally do that with Chewie still if he gets too crazy - and he just turned 4....
I just did it Tuesday night after rally class.

All the dogs get to play while we clean up. There are a bunch of young dogs and he gets just as crazy as they do. They all got a time out....
(Well, not Riley - he is a 4 yr old little old man, fuddy duddy and never joins in the play)

Having the staff pull him (or any dog) out and cool off is the wise thing to do. Waiting until it escalates and gets to be too much, is too late and bad timing.
Sounds like teenagehood.

Tiggy is the same! She is called the party pooper or the fun police at obedience. If dogs are let off to play free at the end of class I take Tiggy home. She just gets too hyped up and runs around barking at everydog and barging into them.

I dont blame them for disliking it, its too noisey and they're often just wanting to play fetch.
not to worry my 2 boys get so ruff and they think they can do it with other dogs not too worry i think sheepies just tend to play harder
My first thought is what a great daycamp - to be that aware and proactive, instead of waiting until something happens.
Simon and Bella both spent the weekend boarding at the place where they sometimes attend Doggy Daycare, the staff all knows them. I arranged for them to attend Daycare for the three days they would be there.

I let them know that Simon had become more rambunctious than usual with doggy play (he becomes obsessed with ONE dog and won't leave it alone, lol) and might need a time out.

So when I came to pick them up, the Daycare attendant came to speak to me to let me know it was Bella who had to go into a timeout!

I agree that I appreciate the attentive staff who pays attention and doesn't let things get out of hand. I know my two can get really obnoxious when together, especially when double-team herding other dogs! They are good dogs, don't get aggressive, per se, but I know they can be intimidating and the other dog might react badly!

Ha, ha isnt that always the way? Just when you think you've got a handle on things they decide to trick you and swap roles.
