Just Back from Herding!

Well we are just back from the herding instinct test Mike set up and it was wonderful! The weather was perfect - maybe a bit too sunny and warmer than expected but all in all dry and perfect.

Raspberry farms was perfect too and carolyn was great. It was so much fun to actually "meet" some forum members and finally put faces to the screen names! And need I say, the dogs were all perfectly behaved and just beautiful!

I do ahve to send out a super special thanks to Mike for his effirts and for making this happen. He really was the brains of this and the icing of the cake was the delicious lunch he prepared. GREAT JOB MIKE :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:

I am soo glad it went well. I wanted to come but it was my saturday at work (we only have to do soo many weekend days in a certain period-- and of course it would be my turn this weekend  )

I can't wait to see pics and hear more about everyone's experiences/thoughts!!!
I am glad you got the opportunity to let your dogs do what they were bred to do!!!

I remember seeing Heart herding for the first time. It was like NOTHING mattered except the sheep.

To see my 'baby', follow her instinct brought tears to my literally!!! It was amazing and awesome...Hopefully, we can begin to herd again this summer.

Keep us posted!!!!
I second the round of applause to Mike for orchestrating this! :clappurple: :clappurple: And the lunch he prepared went WAY beyond the call - yummy delish!!

Ten dogs were tested, and I am happy and pleased to report that SAMMIE PASSED!!! :yay: :excited: I was thoroughly convinced that she would cower and run in the opposite direction, but she did great! At first she wasn't sure what these creatures were and why Daddy and the other lady were telling her to run after them  but once she caught on, it was amazing to watch. She got her first experience in a small pen with 4 sheep, which didn't impress her much. Then she went to a larger pen with 25 sheep, and she did much better. The last pen only had 4 sheep, but the run area was WAY bigger and she just took off! Plus, and we can't take credit for this because she came to us this way, her recall is phenomenal. No matter what she's doing, when we call she stops on a dime and returns. The ranch owner was very impressed with her on that.

I'll post pictures shortly. Didn't take too many, though, so I'm depending on those who took more to post.

Yay!! :cheer: :yay: :cheer: :yay: :cheer: :yay: :cheer: :yay: :cheer: :yay:
Very cool, I can't wait to get some of mine around sheep... sounds like fun.
It sounds like a great time! If Stacey wasn't here posting maybe the pics would approved by now :D
