Introducing Butch

After reading this forum for several weeks I have decided it is time to introduce myself.

Butch was born 9-27-09, the same day as my husband so we took that as a good sign. Going thru the puppy experiences has been interesting as it's been 11 years since we've had a puppy. He shares the limelight with an 11 year old Basset named Tripper (imagine you can understand the meaning behind the name) who doesn't always appreciate the puppy enthusiasm. Now if we can just get potty training down it will all be good. Reading the issues others have had with this gives me hope. We've never had a dog that has taken this long to "get it" so I know he goes out more than is really necessary; no messes is the objective here.

We are getting older but I must admit the winter wasn't nearly as boring as it usually is, he has kept us hopping.

Since picture taking and posting are not something I'm great at I will read the instructions and see what I can do.

Welcome, we look forward to hearing more about your pup :)
Welcome to the site.

Sheepies being clumsy great oafs can only fail to impress tripper
gotta be a good dog, 9/27 is our anniversary.

Continue the calm but assertive approach to house training. Being a male, it does take a bit longer. You can always put a belly band around him to save the floor.

That's a tough thing to suggest about her hubby
Welcome from Texas. My Cuatro is just a few weeks older than Butch.
I know the potty thing will come, every day seems to get a little better. I never knew about the belly bands until I saw people posting about them on the forum. I would consider using one if it became necessary.
Welcome to the forum.
I'm looking forward to hearing more of you and your pups. :clappurple:

Welcome from southern MN - near Mankato. Where in WI are you?
Welcome. :)
We've had three oes and three bassets over the years, they all lived together at some point but the bassets were all older so we lost them before long. It is an odd combination but it does seem to work. We do get looks when we have them both together.

We live in North Eastern WI, about 60 miles north of Green Bay.

Thanks for the pic, our basset is a tri-color too. That's my favorite.
Hello from Illinois! I love bassets... they're the Lincoln continentals of the dog world.
Welcome from South Carolina! I can relate about the potty training!
I'm sure there are a few on here that can relate. He's doing pretty well but doesn't have and specific signals so we're always second guessing. He seems to have to go in the house at least once. The scrubber stays handy.
Welcome! Hang in there with the potty thing--he will get it--stay consistent!
Welcome from another Wisconsinite.

I thought my Simon would never "get it". He was four months old before the :bulb: clicked. Try bell training your pup to let you know he's got to go.
welcome from fl great pics
