phpBB forum iPhone App?

I have a love/hate relationship with Apple. Love my iPhone. Hate their software running on my PCs. It really mucks with and mucks up everything. I don't understand their approach -- they are spending gazillions of dollars trying to get people to switch from Windows to Mac, yet when they have the opportunity to have their products interact with their target audience, they make lousy PC software that is a nightmare! How is that going to jibe with their ads touting how easy their computers are?

Funny VerveUp should mention/ask about an iPhone app for the forum.

No, I doubt that I will write one, or have one written specifically for oes.org. But it was funny you mentioned it. :D :D :D
The forum does work on the iPhone Safari browser, I use it all the time.

However I was planning on looking for a theme/skin/whatever-you-want-to-call-it for the forum that would work better for the small format; maybe someone will come up with a generic phpbb forum app for the device.

Or just use the iPad. You may look kinda funny holding it to your ear, though.

In lieu of an app at this point, users can make it simple to go to the forum by making a button that takes them right to the most recent topics screen.

1. Open Safari and navigate to the forum.
2. Click the "view new posts" link in the upper right.
3. Click the + button at the bottom of the sceen.
4. Press "Add to homescreen"
5. Edit the name as you'd prefer - I just has OES.org for mine.

And now you can just press that anytime instead of having to open Safari and navigate to the forum. The font can be adjusted by double tapping - it's better in landscape so just turn your phone sideways.
I would love a theme/skin for google and it would work on the Droid which is google based as well. any app for the droid???
I can view the forum no problem with my ipod touch so I don't see the need for an app really....
Re apple/mac.... I love the safari browser and use it on my pc no problem, I use either firefox or safari anyway, NEVER IE.
I haven't had problems with any apple software on my pc, Quicktime seems to be a bit of a resource hog though.

That's because you have it backwards - the Microsoft software works great on the Mac OS. (Well, completely true since they don't offer Publisher or Internet Explorer...)

Exactly so. Microsoft writes great application software that works well both on MACOS and Windows.

Apple however, writes software that doesn't work well on Windows yet wants Windows users to believe that Apple has a great operating system. Also Apple now of course manufactures their PCs on the Intel platform, so they can't differentiate on the PC Hardware side, they must compete on the software side with their version of "Linux with a nice gui." Sleek boxes though. ;)

I am now running a Windows7 PC (yes, in the middle of the oes.org upgrade fiasco I also upgraded my PC just to add a little complexity to my life) and I gotta say the OS is really really slick and nice. Probably something like MACOS. :D :D :D
