Pot Luck Favorites

What do you like to take or eat once there? Keeping it easy as I'll have to shop and prep in just 3 hours......and I refuse to buy a Costco cake

I like some type of pasta salad wth an oil/vinegar type of dressing. Sturdy, easy, and cheap if you need to make a lot. Add meat, veggies, tuna, shrimp, whatever sounds good. Antipasto meats and cheeses work well. But, I almost always make a dessert (chocolate) so I can be sure there is something there I will like :D
I'm like bestdogs! I'm a dessert person, so I ALWAYS bring my blueberry jello pie and other goodies FOR the same reason as her (to eat something I like), but the pie wouldn't be good for warm weather. Just sayin' ...

As far as eat...
I ALWAYS love anything made with a pasta, deviled eggs, all the big meats (whoever is grilling is my friend), and again ...desserts. The rest everyone else can have b/c I won't touch it. The 7-layer taco stuff is mr. j's favorite along with potato salads (but not my favorite at potlucks).
I usually take deviled eggs, swedish meatballs or a pasta dish, and a dessert. That way, if we don't get there in time to see what everyone else has brought, we have something to eat that we like. We are a bit hesitant with potlucks, it if we are not familiar with everyone's hygeine. (sp)
So what did you end up bringing? :) I can talk about food all day.
It's 2nite but due to unavoidable circumstances with cars in shop, transferring drivers/cars/food I may whimp out. Right now just have juices and fruit w/ a creamcheese, brown sugar, orange dipping stuff, but have been thinking of a quickie: BLT salad either with iceberg lettuce or pasta or both. Easy, quick, use a sweet dressing.

Torn groin and arthritis in hip making movement difficult......so anything that that doesn't take much movement on my part appreciated.

I've been dipping into the dip.....I think a bit too much Grand Mariner  have to add more whipped cream cheese and brown sugar  I'd rather go straight to the GM and forget the whole affair :clappurple:
Sorry you are in pain. :(

I think staying home and eating the dip by yourself is the best idea.

Hope you and your cars are better soon.
Well, went to the potluck and of course there was toooo much food. The word of the day was "chicken." Everyone and their mother (literally in some cases) brought chicken. We had BBQ, green chile, red chile, enchiladas, roasted, chicken n dumplings, chicken pasta casserole, chicken pasta salad, chicken and pea something, and of course fried: Kentucky Fried, Popeyes, grocery store fried, etc. It was rather funny. The single beef dish--turned out to be turkey! Other items were old Easter candy (at least it wasn't Christmas candy!), cheesecakes (I resisted), several types of brownies (also resisted), one tossed green salad and one very good cole slaw made with dill seasoning. I'll have to remember that!! I was a good girl and had tastes of chicken, no fried, cole slaw and grapes because I knew I had those strawberries with the Grand Marnier dip at home

Used DH's truck but had to grab a cane, turn it upside down to pull foot up with the hook to get it into the high truck as the groin won't let me raise my foot!! Fortunately all done in parking lot with nobody watching

Tomorrow cars resolved, all will be back to normal.
im a appetizer person....i usually bring two....last night i made a yummy smoked salmon dip.

block of cream cheese
package of smoked salmon (chopped)
3 scallions finely chopped
juice of 1/2 lemon plus some zest
dill
s and p
garlic powder......

mix all together.....

serve with your favorite cracker....
We have another this Sunday, this dip would be a fine change from usual guacamole. Problem is dips slows down long buffet lines, but for a smaller group, this would be great!

We have a potluck just about once a month, sometimes twice, so you'd think I'd have a good repetoire.......nope. All ideas very welcome....especially meatless/diaryless times of year.

This dip reminds me of the first time I encountered an old stlye Las Vegas buffet......back when the mob still ran ' Vegas, not today's money pinchers. I was enchanced/confused by the big white mountain in the buffet line...mashed potatoes??? then I spotted the lox nearby.......don't think I'd seen that much cream cheese in one spot before.... or since.
this is one of my old standbys
i may have posted it before but here it is again...

chopped sun dried tomatoes
chopped garlic
shrimp or scallops or chicken

saute above together. mix in goat cheese or cream cheese

boil penne pasta...

drain pasta, add to above mixture...chiffonaide some basil on top with a super light sprinkle of sea salt.......good warm or cold!
........oh no, that's a home recipe. 8) Not for ungrateful masses.

And here I was thinking "Frito Pie" for them wondering how far I could stretch the ground beef
