Meet Noel!

We have a new baby at our house, her name is Noel. Let me tell you the story of how Noel came to be our newest furkid.

While chatting with Kathy, you know her as Donner's Mom, she tells me about a puppy in a kill shetler not too far from us. You see where this is going, right? Puppy is listed as a 6 month old Shetland Sheepdog/Standard Poodle Mix, she is an owner turn-in. After viewing pictures of Noel, we decided that she's not Shetland Sheepdog, but OES. We hatch a plan to send my husband to pick Noel up the next day. With the Easter holiday fast upon us, her days are numbered.

Thursday Carlos heads to see Noel. While he's visiting with Noel, he's texting me and sending pictures. I'm on the house phone with Kathy giving her a play by play. Noel is very friendly but a bit scared. She allows Carlos to play with her, handle her feet, ears and mouth without any agression. Between the three of us we all decide that Noel is coming to our home for us to foster. Mind you, last time we failed at fostering. However, this time we have Kathy with organized Rescue and the internet, two things we didn't have in 2000. This should be easier this time, right?

Noel comes home and meets Mini Moose and Ralph. Things go well with the other furkids. Then it's time for the 2-legged kids to come home and meet Noel. Our kids are 6, 8 and 15. Noel fixated on our two little children. Carlos and I can only assume that she had kids at her previous home. She enjoys playing with Mini Moose and the children. Her nature is very sweet, still a little timid, but that's to be expected being in a new place bombarded by 2 OES and 3 up-right kids. She hasn't set eyes on the 2 cats yet...

Easter Sunday my Mom comes over for dinner and is usually the "you don't need another dog...have you lost your mind" voice. Instead she announces after 5 minutes that Noel is here to stay and in fact, if she were interested in a dog for herself she'd take her home....WHAT....where is my Mother and what have you done with her? Needless to say, Carlos and the children were happy. Mind you, it's not that I was unhappy about it, but I knew if we kept Noel we would not have room to foster any OES babies in the future.

My next call is to Kathy...please take Noel off Petfinder. We're keeping her. She laughs and says "no problem, I had a feeling". Thanks Kathy!

Noel is definately an OES Standard Poodle Mix...Sheepadoodle as they are called. She got a clean bill of health from the vet. She's weighing in at 45 pounds. He'd like to see her put on 2-4 pounds. He doesn't think she should be more than 50 pounds. She has the lean body of the Poodle, but the coloring of the OES. Her coat is very soft and looks like OES with a perm!

Meet baby Noel....

:clappurple: I love to hear about failed fosters! :clappurple:

Glad to hear that Noel has fit right in. So how is the Mini Moose?? I followed his blog, as Oscar is also deaf (just slightly bigger at 115 lbs. 8O ), and hoped all is going well with him too.

So how is the Mini Moose??

Mini Moose is doing quiet well! He's trying to figure out how to be a middle child. Noel is giving him a run for his money. He's not sure how to handle a dog that is faster and more agile than he is! If cornered, Noel will simply jump over Moose. They are a hoot to watch when they're all playing in the fence.

I had hoped to keep Mini Moose's blog up, but the reality of three kids in school and activities plus going back to work full-time just doesn't leave much free time. Most importantly is that Mini Moose is happy, healthy and surrounded by those that love him. We joke that Mini Moose and our youngest son Luke are two peas in a pod. They are both so cute and sweet when they aren't being mischevous!

This past weekend Carlos had to shave down Noel's face because of a nasty matt under her chin. She has such a poodle face now! I'll have to get pictures so you can see her. Cute just doesn't even begin to describe her! We're hoping to put a few pounds on her over the next month or so. I'm afraid to see just how thin she is without all the fuzz.

She's also earned a new nickname...Nana, from PeterPan. She wants to know where the little children are and what they are doing once they leave her sight. Once she knows where they are she will come back downstairs and hangout with us and the other pups. Quiet the Motherhen.
Welcome! Noel is adorable! :D :D
Well, I can't believe I missed this!!!

Isn't she a cutie pie?? :aww: :aww:

Thank you all for picking her up....
our last few pups that have come into
rescue have been failed foster/even transports!!

I can't wait to meet her!!
Kathy - If you'd picked her up you would have failed too!!

I can't wait for you to meet her. She is such a sweetie and very smart. We're hoping she keeps her color. We just love the black and white stage! Let us know when we're playing again. You'd better bring Finn and Georgie next time or my kids might have something to say - LOl! Kisses to all of your furkids.
