need some help! looking to adopt a puppy...

I am told this puppy is an Old English Sheepdog that hasn't gotten it's real coat yet? I have googled every possible thing I can and nowhere do I see an OES with a coat like this!
I was not actually going out looking for an OES, I just kind of stumbled on this pretty girl and I really want to know if she is what they say she is!
I know the pics aren't the greatest but it's all I have!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well the coat marking could be OES - but that face certainly isn't what I would expect to see.
there was a whole litter of them and all but 2 actually looked like OES's. This one and one other both looked like this...I'm thinking maybe a border collie mix. It has the right colors for an OES but you are right...the face just doesn't look right!
But do some puppies take awhile to sprout that distinctive coat sometimes? (thats what the guy selling her was trying to say).
If you look at the getting a puppy pictures, you can see the difference..... OES puppies come into the world with a coat and by the time they are 8 weeks old they are fluffy...

These are pictures of my girl, Heart......

Here is what Heart looked like at about 6 weeks old...(Heart is the one sitting by Valerie with the heart shape on her back.)

That puppy is a cutie!!!! LOVE the blue eyes!!!!!! :D
Probably not OES all the way. Was the mom OES - did you see her?

Another thought is the mom got bred by 2 different dogs while she was in heat - puppies can have multiple "dads" all in one littter.

Very cute puppy though :D

What's the age. Most likely not pure breed OES. Just look on the forum puppy page. My vote is some aussie mix added especially if there is a bobbed tail. But who knows.Yes a mom can have multiple daddy's for a litter.
she is 12 weeks old in the photo.
unfortunately, we did not see the mom.
it was not at a breeder or anything, just a local shop we stumbled on and fell in love with that face!
gonna go back and see what we can find out...if there are papers or anything.
i was just curious about them saying she would get that fluffy coat soon...the guy seemed so truthful in saying that they dont always get the fluff right away and since I don't really know much about the breed, we figured we would see what we could find out online. The lack of a single OES pup looking like her pretty much convinced us she was a mix but I wanted to take one more step and see what you guys thought.

thanks for your help!
That dog will never have a fluffy coat. It's a beautiful dog but I don't think there's a bit of oes in it. Looks like a husky/border collie mix to me.
I also highly doubt it's only 12 weeks old... looks more mature than that to me.
Not an OES but definitely a beautiful dog! Gorgeous eyes. Mom could definitely have had a couple of suitors in the mix if some of the littermates look different. It happens.

Ditto. Ditto. Ditto.
That is certainly not an oes, but it's cute though. If you specifically want a fluffy dog, I don't think that's it.

Have a browse through the photos in this section and you will find lots of pics.
Whatever little mix she is she is ADORABLE! I love that face!!
In this photo; you can see clearly at about 5 weeks old that Luna did NOT have the same fluffy coat that Tonks had:

by about 12 weeks she had begun to fluff considerably:

...though still not as much as her sister:

Today, both are equally difficult to groom:

I think the dog in your photos is adorable, and worth adopting if you like it. If you are looking for a sheepdog; I have to agree with everyone; thats not it and it won't get a shaggy coat. You said they were at a store; if this dog is for sale, I'd say they are probably calling it a sheepdog so they can get a sheepdog price for it. If you are happy with a mixed puppy, there are plenty at shelters that you can rescue without paying the sort of price for a dog that these people might be asking for if they are calling that mix a pure OES.

what adorable pictures!! but even at 5 weeks your pup had more fluff on the face than this one does and at 12 weeks...this dog looks way bigger than that as well so i also have to agree with the other posters about the age being off as well.

We did not go looking for a sheepdog or anything specific...just went to go see the puppies and fell in love with this one. Actually the Sheepdog part is the only reason we didn't bring her home right then and there! That grooming takes alot of time and dedication!! Also, we wanted to research the breed a bit. Good thing we didn't just impulse buy!!

My friend is actually going to go back this weekend and see what she looks like this weekend and talk to the people there. (not that I expect them to be suddenly honest)

Oh well, we will see what happenes.

Thank you to everyone for your helpful input!
This pup really does remind me of an Aussie.

I hope this helps. Good luck in your puppy search.
Cannot help with what breed it may be but wow she is a beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooooh... she's a beautiful puppy and deserves a great home :D I'd think her coat may be easier to maintain than an OESs. If she's part Border Collie?? she might shed at times but a good Oster grooming rake and slicker brush will help immensely. My BC-mix is a heavy shedder but the rake really strips out the loose hair.

My guess is that she's probably more like the dogs in this ad-
http://stlouis.ebayclassifieds.com/dogs ... ad=2326338

The ad no longer mentions that "...Unfortunately their facial hair never developed and they are what is known as a smooth coated OES..." or that they purchased three for $650 each. These two also deserve great homes but I'm thinking the AKC should be contacted if they're sold/purchased/registered as AKC OESs... I mentioned a litter could have multiple fathers.
I don't know that I see OES in there, but who knows? Sometimes one parent's genes are so dominant that you could hardly tell what the other one is.

That being said, I think that's one gorgeous puppy. I'd jump at the opportunity. I have always had sheepies, and due to the weather here (snow which causes mats, followed by mud which causes mats, and only a few weeks on either side with non mat causing weather) we usually keep them fairly short anyway. A shorter coat may well be a blessing. (No offense to those who love and maintain full coats of course...I could just never join those ranks.)
She sort of looks like two of our previous foster dogs.

The Mom was full OES and dad/dad's were who knows

They are both wonderful dogs....now about 7 years old.

She is a cutie pie none the less! :hearts:
