The beginning of Agility Gerl's adventures

Hi All,
It's me, Agility Gerl, back again.

I finally got to go to my first agility class last night. As I mentioned in my last post they had dumb rules about the uprights going to the first two sessions sans dogs. I mean pulease what use are the two legs at agility? None, IMHO!
As I've said they're only good for chauffering us there, setting up the equipment and carrying the treats etc, otherwise they just get in the way by telling us to do the jump when we really need to zoom the tunnel again, hurrumph!

Well enough of that, now to tell you about me!!! I really liked class!!! I decided to cut my upright some slack and behave myself, yes, yes I know you're all disappointed in me for letting the team down but you know how it is? I felt sorry for my upright, she's been waiting for months to see me in action, so I thought I'd better put on a show (and for the uprights information it had NOTHING to do with the roast beef treats, so there!) Although I'm not knocking them, they were tasty and I'm happy to eat the uprights roast beef every week. Daddy was cross, he wanted the left over roast beef for his own  but Mommy wouldnt let him have it :clappurple:

I was very good, I only jumped up on a few people to say "hello" but they really liked me and said I was cute so I knew that they really, really wanted me to jump on them. 8) I didnt rush at any other dogs and I didnt bark at any running dogs, not once. Amazing huh? I'm a bit surprised at myself about that. 8O Maybe I'll do that another time. :lmt:

We practised focus, a LOT! Like I said before I dont really know why, I can look at my Mommy any old day, and she was right, the dalmo that comes is VERY handsome  I could tell he liked me too, he kept trying to come and say "hi" but the uprights stopped us. Such a shame, I bet we could have had fun, maybe he would have let me chase and bark at him like I do to Rastus.

But then we did some funner stuff, something called perch work. I got a bit worried at first, I mean I'm not a parrot or even a small dog, how would I fit on a perch? But it was really a very small box and all I had to do was stand both my front feets on it and I got some of the roast beef. Too easy, I can see I'm going to be a natural at this agility caper.

I got to walk on the wobble board, its a bit scary, what if I jam my toes under it? I bet that would really hurt but worse what if I fell off? I'd be embarrassment in front of the handsome dalmo 8O  But it was ok and the instructor said I was good. 8)

I also ran along a plank, it was only a couple of inches high so it wasnt hard and if I wanted I could put my feet on the ground and not fall. The instructor explained to my upright that she was crowding me with the treat and that she should step back and save it till the end of the plank. She said because I'm a big gerl I need my space. Well that explains why she's the instructor she was right, straight away I felt better and put all my four feets on the plank and then I ran all the way to the end, it was fun and the roast beef at the end was tasty. :D

I think I liked the plank best, anything where you get to run is good, I was very good at perch work though, but still running is the best fun. I hope we do tunnels next week we ran out of time yesterday and they're are my favorite, favorite thing!

Well I have to go now, the uprights want the computer and 'sides I'm exhausted after last night. Oh and Chewie, you were soooo right, Rastus was sad when I was the chosen one and got to go to class. It was grouse watching him sook.

Bye now luv Tiggy, Agility Gerl. :roses:

That is great!

Chewie wanted to ask Tiggy how she got the roast beef - he said he never gets anything that prime! But he agrees - getting to go with mom and see all the others crying in the window is THE BEST! 8) 8)
Way to go!
Hi Chewie,
the best way to get great stuff like roast beef is to use a double prong approach.

No 1. Pick one of the uprights and act like they are the best, for me it works best if I be a Mommy's girl!
Then 2. be naughty when you go out and anytime the treats are a bit better be a bit gooder.
They can be slow, but eventually the upright will work out that the better the treat the better behaved you'll be. So then when it really matters you'll get the bestest treats there are. Even if the other upright isnt happy about it.

I left a sad Rastus and a sad Dad at home with no roast beef for them. :D

Good luck in your quest for prime treats. I'll keep my paws crossed for you.
Ahhhh, I was wondering when we would hear from you.

Way to go Tiggy!!!!!
