Hair Plugs for People

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has or knows anyone that has hair plugs. What was the outcome? How do they look? Cost? Thanks!

Who is this for? I know I've always thought about it myself. My mom's side of the family all BALD at top as they age, and uh... I don't want that happening to me.

For myself. The hair on the crown of my head as always been thin. I think it became worse either during or after Evan. I've become extremely self conscious and people look and ask. If I were a man I could shave my head, but that's not an option. I
A friend of mine here in Aus had it done quite a few years ago.

He was really happy with it initially but not as happy with it now as he is continuing to go bald around the hair plugs so it doesnt look as thick as it did at first. Luckily they did a good job so it doent look like rows of hair plugs, some of the early versions did. They didnt explain that he would keep going bald so he kinda thought how it looked when it was first done was how it would stay looking, so he's a bit disappointed.

He was pretty sore and swollen for a few days after the procedure but other than that ok. It cost him a bomb, but it was quite a few years ago and is probably a lot cheaper now.
A possible option for you might be extensions. There is a process where the extensions are place individually not with a strip. A good stylist can place the extensions strategically so that they cover the thinning area and then blend and cut them to fit your hairstyle. The hair is real and comes in many colors.

The only downside is that you will need to raise them every 6 to eight weeks. This could give you an idea as to whether you would like to go the hair plugs route.
Hi my mom has tons of wig books - try Paula Young the have these pieces that you can use for just the top of your head. They look great  I think you can check her out on line.

Hair plugs not so good

GOOD hair extensions that last a 4 months "if you're lucky" ...are $4-8,000 dollars and they look great, but definitely not worth it unless you're making big bucks! I'd love to get them!

Individual extensions wouldn't be a good solution for the crown of the head. Even with non-wefted hair, the fastening point would have to be above the crown to cover the thinning area and, if the hair is already fine, there's not only not a lot for it to attach to, but the individual pieces will be noticeable and very difficult to cover.

It really depends on the area you live in, the hair type/fastening method you go with and how much that you need. You can get great looking hair, that if you take good care of it, will last you 4+ months for well under $2000. European hair is the best but totally unnecessary. It's almost too soft and usually has to be cut with Indian or Chinese Remy hair to actually get it to blend well with your existing hair unless you already have phenomenal hair and you're just looking for length. Sometimes, it's more cost effective to actually find a good stylist and just travel!

Really good hair extensions here are not that much. They run around 1500 to 2000. It really depends on the type of hair and how many extensions you want or need for the look you want. I was lucky when my stylist asked to be a 'head' for him for a show a few years ago so. I left them in about 8 months and had to change the hair once (he uses european hair and it is a little pricey)--and he only charged me for the hair that time. The rest was just raising the current extensions. For me it took too much time and money to maintain long term so I had him take them out. Mine were just barely shoulder length not real long.

I will say that styling was easier and the body my hair had then was great--wish I had been born that way!! :D
Well you guys are lucky!!

No way for even the shortest hair is it less than 4000 ..unless you're using something other than real human hair. Then they spend hours trying to come up with the exact dye to match your hair etc. I have a handful of friends that have done it (there's were both 6000 range), and I don't know how anyone explains spending that much money on something that lasts such a short time (like I said... the stylists say you are LUCKY if they last 4 months).
A plane ticket to Nashville and the extensions would be less than you all pay there! My guy is good --does a lot of the big names here in Nashville-all the Titans Cheerleaders and flies to Vegas often to work the CMA awards. PM me if you ever want details for you or your friends. A couple of my friends fly here to have it done.

Just thinkin....
Nothing starts a heated discussion with my son, (stylist and instructor) faster than the topic of extensions. I throw the comment out every now and again just to light him up. His first comment is, "so you want to destroy the perfectly healthy hair you have now?". He's happy to put them in as the money is great, but he refuses to do so without telling the client all potential downside.
