Baxter Definitely not feeling well

Well... 18mth old Baxter is in the grip of his first illness ! Fine on Saturday night, then on Sunday morning he started vomiting bile. He vomited 4 times during Sunday, but was drinking and urinating well - no bowel movements though. He was very moochy all night, but no bloat, no discomfort, just off his food and lethargic. Today (Monday) still off his food, still no apparent discomfort anywhere, no fever and he is still drinking nicely - still no bowel movements and still fairly quiet - until my Dad came around to see him. He was excited - but a little less so than normal, but it was nice to see him a little animated. Of course, being Easter, only emergency places are open, so I called them, explained what was happening with him... and they seem to be comfortable that we don't need to take him in and he should be fine to see the Vet tomorrow. He has a little nibble on some food which he has kept down - I was expecting some regurgitation which would have had him in the car and down to the hospital immediately... Anyone have any experiences like this one ? I still haven't ruled out taking him to the hospital..... although I would prefer his usual vet to examine him in the first instance.... Cheers !

He has not eaten anything to maybe cause a blockage? Just wondering because you said he has not pooped in a few days.

Usually vomitting not eating and no pooping might mean that, one good thing is he is drinking, so keep the fluids up till you can see a vet and dont worry too much with him not eating main thing is fluid at the moment.

Best wishes hope it is nothing too serious and hope you get into see a vet soon.
All the best with Baxter, hope its nothing serious. :crossed:
Hope Baxter is feeling better today :crossed:
Well, Baxter ate a little food last night - just a little wet food (mince with a smattering of water) and hasn't regurgitated it or anything. Going to his wonderful vet this morning though as he is still very off and has increased his drinking somewhat. Still no bloating or tenderness anywhere which is a good sign and he did start livening up a bit when dad came home from work yesterday. Will keep everyone posted ! And thanks so much for the well wishes !!
Hope everything is ok with your Baxter. :crossed: :crossed: I have a Baxter too--
Poor Baxter. :(

Feel better soon!
Any news on Baxter and his vet visit?
OK - Back from the vet and it appears as though he's picked up a little bit of a bait from somewhere ! He may have sniffed around a dead bird or it's a virus of some sort... Temperature is up and he's still very lethargic so he's fasting for another 24 hours.... antibiotic injection.... blood test - no diabetes which is fabulous... and then on the fabulous boiled chicken and rice diet for a few days with more antibiotics thrown in for good measure. Feel so much better knowing that he doesn't have an obvious bowel obstruction or anything really nasty ! So the vet is fairly certain that he will come good in about 3 or 4 days. The vet will drop by in a couple of days to check up on him which I thought was just fabulous ! Who knew - vets who do house calls ! Thanks again for all of the well wishes - it was Baxters first illness and the first time I've felt as useless as I did !
Get well soon Baxter :plead:
wow, good for baxter. think house visits are an australian thing. :clappurple:

Hope Baxter feels better soon!
Hugs to Baxter get well soon.
So as an update on the big fella.... His blood test showed that he did indeed suffer from a massive infection which he's overcoming nicely now. He's gradually getting back to his beautiful, big, boisterous self, but, he tires fairly easily. So I guess another few days without exercise and then we can slowly get him back into the groove. In the meantime he's just gonna continue getting spoilt and loved. Thanks for the well wishes !
Poor Baxter! Come on boy, get your strength back and heal!
The hardest part is the humans being patient. We want to give them a magic pill & see them well right away. Go ahead & spoil him,......he deserves it!
Tiggy hopes your feeling a lot more like your old energetic self Baxter.
Poor Baxter! Glad the vet said he'll be back to himself in a few days!!! :)
Took the big fella out for a little stroll this morning - Poor little bugger has been going stir crazy not being able to get out and about ! We lasted for about 20 minutes at a very sedentary pace and he was happy! So we're just about back to normal although its probably another week before he's out jogging me into the ground. :clappurple:
Glad to hear Baxter is on the mend!!! :clappurple:
